    Here’s the backstory:

A couple months ago I learned about Serotta Bikes and started to keep my eye out for a frame. I wanted to try a titanium bike as I’ve had steel bikes (F. Moser, Fuji) and carbon (Cervelo) but not titanium. Eventually, I saw this frame pop up on eBay but didn’t pull the trigger. When I was finally ready to make an offer I found the listing had disappeared and was heartbroken. A couple weeks later, I saw the frame pop up again and I immediately messaged the seller to make the frame mine.

My idea for the build was to bring this lightly ridden Serotta frame into the modern age while retaining some older components. I knew I wanted to put some Dura Ace 9000 cranks on a bike (they’re so damn pretty) and eventually I decided on just doing the groupset as well. As you can probably tell, the groupset came to me in used condition and has definitely been in a crash. I opted for carbon components (bars, wheels) as I’d had a great experience upgrading to carbon on my Cervelo Caledonia. I’ve got some additional ideas for the future: new stem, headset, bottom bracket.

Putting this bike together was actually the first time that I’ve built a bike up from just a frame and it’s been so satisfying. I spent a lot of time watching the Park Tool YouTube channel to try and get most things right. Hoping to build up more frames eventually.

I just finished putting this together and decided to snap these pics before the maiden voyage. I’m extremely happy with how this project came out and hope you all enjoy as well!

Nice build. In picture 5 it seems as though your rear wheel may not be fully seated in the dropout.

  3. Beautiful. Looks great with the DA9000. I will be putting that groupset on a blue Serotta Concours (ti/carbon) probably next year.
Really classy looking build. Hope you enjoy for many years ahead
