Hey all, I am looking for info on my grandfather’s MBK Triathlon road bike. I know from a quick Google search that this frame came in a red colourway but weirdly enough this blue variant never showed up. I believe all the components are original, the MBK stamped drop bars, Stronglight 3by crankset and Huret(?) rear derailleur. Do any of you know about this frame and colourway? Was this limited or anything?
Thanks in advance!!

Forgot to mention the rear brake cable is routed through the top tube, maybe that’ll help pin point the year/decade.
The year is 1985~1988 after Motobecane bankrupted and started the MBK line. The frame is decent, great geometry and really good in acceleration.
They used to make the race versions with columbus but as I see this bike is with another type of steel.
The Stronglight crank is pretty good and light. The sachs/hurret looks like their best model for the era 1985 and shifts on point. I have never had any problems with both of them.
I have MBK super record from the same period, very similar paint job and it rides reeeally good.
In my opinion the bike is top-notch french frame 🙂
