We’re now a little over 24 hours away from the start of 2024’s @donegalultra5555 race in Northern Ireland and have another short episode to share. This time, #endurancecycling athlete and solo competitor, Marc Poland, explains which bikes he’ll be taking to Ireland to compete in the race and why. Serious #cyclists know that a phrase like, “a bike is a bike is a bike”, in no way relates to what they do. In the episode, you’ll see that Marc’s shop, fondly and locally known as the “Bike Barn”, has quite the array of bicycles. With this arsenal at his disposal coupled with his knowledge of the Donegal’s rigorous challenges, it’s essential that Marc makes the right equipment choices. He’ll be one of 12 solo competitors taking on the full 555 km course, navigating mountainous and coastal racing environments, changing, sometimes unforgiving weather conditions, and topographical features like its intensely steep climbs.

Marc’s official start time is 5:22am IST on Saturday, August 10; follow him or any of the other racers and racing teams in real-time during the event at the links below.
