Yup, you can say it that Pogacar was a victim of his own choices but in the end of the day imo van Baarle stopped Pogacar from getting a podium on his debut. Simple as that, his frustration against him despite everything, I think it's very understandable.

i dont get it .. why Podgy tried to go through a gap which was obviously not accessible for him when he had ALL the space necessary to overtake on the left side? in my opinion, if he had the power in the legs he would use the draft from van Baarle and Madouas and in the last 50m he would go full gas in a high cadence and big gear with a huge acceleration. It s quite clear that he didnt have the focus and inspiration on the last m to the line pbbly because he was not expecting to be in a 4 man group sprint but more on a 1v1 with an advantage from the draft of MvP

Just frustration. When we look at the sprint you can see how Van der Poel starts and simply edges away well before Tadej got closed in. He was never going to win this one. He tried everything he could, always broke Mathieu on the last climb but did not succeed. After that there ws no chance and he was losing this sprint. He can only complain may be about not being third or second. But not first.
