So I just picked up this Hardrock for 15€.
Howdo I start cleaning this( without damaging the frame, there are already here and there some small rust marks) and make this a great alrounder? Which parts are easy to replace for someone who has never worked on a bike.
This need to replace my Kona Rove that got stolen from me 18 months ago. Unfortunately I still don’t have the funds to buy a new one, so this Hardrock project will need to do.
And can someone identify what particular bike I just bought?
Cheers,

For cleaning and fixing, park tools on YouTube will do better than explaining here. Go over it with a rag and some cleaning product, then most likely get new chain and cables for it. Inspect ut thoroughly or get a bike shop to do it for you.
Ride it!
The classic is to spend 200-300 more to spare parts now
Great find, I would get some new tires (they look dry) and give this bad boy a quick tune-up. Personally I’d lose all the reflectors and cheap fenders but other than that its ready to ride!
im buying those frames from eBay and giving them a total workaround with new parts. 15 bucks is a very good price. i usually pay 50-100€ for the bikee/frame and around 300-400€ for parts from Alibaba. then sell them for 600-800€
i first clean with soap, then with alcohol and then a polish with polish-milk.
I would replace cables, housing, and brake pads if it needs them. Then ride it
Light wash, lube chain, new tyres, new break pads, park tool videos for adjusting everything. That should get it running well enough. Weird noises will surface probably, and you might get frustrated when you can’t seem to figure it out, but you will sooner or later, just do your research.
After that, riding will tell you what you don’t like. Countless hours of browsing forums and reddit for recommendations will follow lol
At least this is my experience as a beginner.
New everything, Drop bar 1by gravel bike conversion
Cycle?
The xbiking special: add some fat supple tires, some upright handlebars, and a front basket 👌
Go for a bike ride! Then add a front rack apparently
Make it a 1×10
Bury it in the garden before you spend 500 on new parts…
