Just looking to upgrade a 2×9 setup to a 1×10. I’ve got a Shimano deore 10s cassette (11-46) and found this deore derailleur that would work but couldn’t find the “matching” shifter model for it, this shifter is a step up but also deore and 10s.
These should work together right? Even though the shifter is a model number above?

Yes it will but do your due diligence when ordering with Amazon, there seems to be a lot of counterfeit Shimano stuff floating around there ATM and even if you order from an official Shimano seller you can’t guarantee it as they use a binning system that can mix up parts supplied by different sellers.
Yes, they will work fine. Id highly recommend a xt shifter as it’ll feel really good and allows for faster shifting . But if costs an issue a deore shifter is great.
but do not use Amazon for any MTB parts , especially Shimano.
Amazon allows any one to add items into a bin that they grab out of to ship to you , so counterfeit / grey market parts are rampant , as you don’t know who’s supplying you the parts .
Hit up a large online bike shop like jensonusa or similar you will get a bike part with proper warranty and no chance of it being counter fit.
Go with Shimano cues!
yep it’ll work. All shimano shifters and derailleurs pretty much all work together. Yes there are exceptions like using a linkglide shifter with a hyperglide derailleur and vice versa.

I’ve been a bike mechanic but close to 10 years ago, and most all my bikes have vintage/older groups running friction but wanted to go indexed on upgrading my MTB. Wasn’t sure if things all went highly proprietary from the last time I worked on modern parts to now haha

And I’ll make sure to check out the parts when they come in, free returns are easy and these parts are available on REI for similar price point maybe $10 more here or there, so if Amazon is a bust it’s easy enough to order from rei with another solid return policy and official distribution.
Hey, please do this instead, go to bike-discount.de and get these 2 items. The derailleur also has an 11s compatability, and its way cheaper even though they’re genuine(i bought it).
