Hi there!
When first arriving in the world of biking, like most people I was using the dreadful phone in pocket technique to guide myself. Then I invested in a second-hand [GPS Beeline VĂ©lo 2](https://beeline.co/products/beeline-velo-2) (which does navigation close to perfection) but the feature I’m missing the most is modification of the trace on the fly.
Basically my current usage my GPS is using Komoot to plan the ride. Then importing that GPX into the Beeline Velo 2. It works great if I follow the trace. If I deviate from it, it doesn’t reroute so I’m back to the phone in pocket technique. If I change plans mid-day and define another end point for the day, I need to end that ride and create another GPX , etc. It’s all very cumbersome.
So my question is: **with one of the more powerful GPS options (garmin / wahoo / karoo), will I have the possibility to have automatic rerouting? Will I be able to change the end destination of a ride without ending the current one and starting a new one?** Komoot’s app handles all that very well I’m just not crazy about having my phone in the sun for hours on end (battery life is also a concern ofc)
About more powerful GPS options, besides the inclination map when starting a climb, I don’t care about most of the features they offer. I just want directions / my speed / possibility of changing course and that’s pretty much it. I do like the built-in alarm feature to remember me to not starve to death on the bike…
I know it’s all a matter of personal preference and all, but what’s your favorite way of navigating while bike touring?

I ride with Garmin 1030+. That will do all tricks you require to do the tour. 1040 also has similar (and more) features.
The plain 1030 won’t re-route automatically.
Can’t speak for the other brands, haven’t used them.
Garmin Edge 840 will reroute (if you want it to), and there’s also an option to import/select a new gps track during your ride.

Wahoo Bolt V2 allows for this too.
