I found a cheap used wheel, so I'm looking at brake adapters to possibly install a disc brake. The only thing closely relevant I could find were the "Hayes 22mm to 51mm IS" mounts. Would that adapter also work on my frame?

maybe. i wouldn’t. it’s generally not advisable, and sometimes not safe, to use disc brakes on frames not designed for them.
No. And even if you could, the conversion will cost money and frustration and still probably won’t work well.
I would rate this as Not Worth the Hassle. You’ll have better results and more fun if you buy some nicer rim brakes instead!
I have a 2017 GT Aggressor Sport with the exact back drops as you. So I decided to use a Gary Fisher Discomatic adapter. Originally intended to update Trek bikes to disc brake. Found the right place on the frame. And made new screw holes into the adapter.
Does it work? Yes but and I mean BUT. I’m very careful when stopping with it. Knowing that aluminum isn’t as strong as steel. Fearing that constant strain on the frame could create a crack. So would it work? Yes and no. Would I suggest someone doing this? I would suggest the AZN adapter instead. I did my project to see if it would work. At the time I couldn’t find a 29er fork with v-brake bosses. Running disc front, v-brake back seem silly to me.
