It’s a challenge for sure. I did 100k on my 25 year old Rocky Mountain a couple of years ago. A tank compared to today’s bikes.
I also used it for my Great cycle challenge for kids cancer in 2020. 2000 kms and 85,000 ft elevation.
Do you need brake hoods? Diacompe do some that fit. I have a NOS set of your groupset.
(but why ride it with a bad saddle)
