Found a nearly perfect 2011 SE Racing So Cal Flyer today and had to buy it. This is my first BMX cruiser, and my return to BMX after leaving the sport more than 35 years ago. Yes I am OLD. I'm really happy with the purchase and plan to return to the track someday soon! Any other 50+ riders in this community?

54 here.
I also have an older age So Cal Flyer. I bought mine as a wreck in around 2009 off a kid who wanted £100 for it. It was bright yellow.
Most of the components were either shot, or shit, so I stripped the frame and forks and resprayed them properly it in a paint booth. Gloss black. Then I built it up with cool components and had a decal set made up for it. It was all stealth black. The only one.
For a number of years it looked really good. But then I posted some pics of it to Todd Lyons on Facebook and he said “you might regret showing me that”.
Sure enough the following year SE introduced the stealth black So Cal Flyer and suddenly my bike wasn’t unique anymore, you could buy one for $500 😀
Since then I’ve taken all the good parts off it to use on 20″ builds, and I’ve stopped taking care of it. It’s now just the bike I’ll ride if it’s raining. It’s a ratty looking clunker now, with cheap and nasty parts on it.
Seeing yours in white looking really good makes me want to strip mine down again, change the colour, and build it back up into a cool bike once again.
Yours looks really good!
