i left wheel leaning against the wall in the basement for a year, came back to see it had broken spokes? is this normal (you might need to zoom in) i didn’t know spokes can spontaneously break what next? worth it to repair? or should i just salvage the tire, inner tube, sprocket. any other advice?

Spokes are cheap, amazon has allot of sellers, measure and put in all new.
I find it hard to believe they spontaneously broke⦠The entire wheel looks corroded and rusty, was this used on a winter bike by chance?
If only my locals would sell me spokes, I would go there.
Was your wheel stored near any pool chemicals/chlorine? That would definitely do it
That whole thing is rusty as hell. Take it to a bike shop, they might be able to re-use the rim and tire and lace you up a new wheel.
In the future, clean your bike better after riding in the winter. I’m assuming they salt the roads where you ride.
My uncle gave me his “high end bike he bought in the 80s” with a real desire for me to restore it and ride it.
That thing was stored in his attic for close to 30 years. Every bearing was so crunchy it barely moved and about 1/3 of the spokes were just like this photo. It’s garbage, Bill. Sad to say it.
Any small children and side cutters around?
