  1. Take the chain off and see how it feels. It’s more than likely that the chainring (front sprocket) is not perfectly round and that you’re running the chain tight. So the drive-train binds once per crank revolution.

    Chainrings are rarely (if ever) **perfectly** round. And I mean absolutely perfectly round.

    So generally, when a chainring is mounted, there is one angle or orientation which increases tension in the chain.

    So I suspect your chain tension is just a tad too much currently. If you can move the rear wheel forward, this may improve it.

    When tensioning the chain, you should find the tightest spot and tension from that. Like others have said, neither the cog or the chain wheel are perfectly round. If you tighten to anywhere other than the tightest spot you run into this issue.

  4. Your sprocket is little bent so in one place chain is tighter than in the other. Try to find the tightest spot and align your wheel from there

    chain tension due to uneven wearing on the chainring and you setting the tension away from the highest tensioned spot.

    Find the spot with the highest tension – set it there. If the resulting tension at the lowest tension point is too low, then the chainring is probably done for.
