Hi guys, was on a big bikepacking trip (fork loaded but within manufacturers recommendation) and noticed my headset was knocking. Tried to tighten it but didn't really change much. Took it apart back home and saw what I assume is a missing chunk.
Funnily enough now that I've cleaned a regressed everything the clicking is gone. But I'm guessing this ain't good…

Your guess is correct, unfortunately.
Does the bearing still sits in flush or does it have some play/wiggle room? Is the carbon around the damage still stiff/doesn’t move when pushed?
If it sits flush and the carbon is still stiff I would not be too concerned. It’s not good for sure but I would say it’s still rideable. Maybe take a photo of the headset from the outside and keep an eye on the paint.
My first impression here is that this frame is toast. There is damage to the bearing race seat on the left of the picture, too.
But now that is said…
I mean, if this was me making a repair on my own bike, I would clean up the damaged parts (removing the loose debris) – then I would wash it with acetone, mix up some epoxy and fill in the damaged areas, allow to dry, sand the repairs flush with the bearing seat, clean up again and reassemble.
