Checkmate? Never heard of it, Trek’s gravel/cross lineup is so confusing, checkpoint, Boone, crocket, and now a checkmate?
Also these give me cannondale vibes outside of the isospeed and bontrager kit.

I wonder if it’s better to buy the new SL5 and then convert it to 2x Sram Rival eTap AXS or just opt for the Gen 2 SL7 which comes as a 2x (but is ~2 years old).

If it really costs over $12k that’s ridiculous.
50mm+ clearance makes sense, as that’s the way the market is going. And the Checkpoint was never THAT appealing to me as a Crockett owner, since I can already get 42’s on the Crockett with clearance and be sub-20lbs.
Treks are so ugly. They are like iterations of a commuter bike. Racy commuter bike! Gravel commuter bike! Comfy fast commuter bike!
