That he’s entitled to use the road in accordance with the Highway Code?

    Rule 72
Road positioning. When riding on the roads, there are two basic road positions you should adopt, depending on the situation.
    1) Ride in the centre of your lane, to make yourself as clearly visible as possible, in the following situations
on quiet roads or streets – if a faster vehicle comes up behind you, move to the left to enable them to overtake, if you can do so safely
in slower-moving traffic – when the traffic around you starts to flow more freely, move over to the left if you can do so safely so that faster vehicles behind you can overtake
at the approach to junctions or road narrowings where it would be unsafe for drivers to overtake you
    2) When riding on busy roads, with vehicles moving faster than you, allow them to overtake where it is safe to do so whilst keeping at least 0.5 metres away, and further where it is safer, from the kerb edge. Remember that traffic on most dual carriageways moves quickly. Take extra care crossing slip roads.

  2. This is why I like to have a mirror. You can see where the vehicle is and pull in when safe. The ones that get pissed are the ones that make the dangerous close passes.

  3. Proud. They’re positioned well, going around a corner that is a bit of a blind bend and with double white central lines. And by the way, they’re not in the middle of the road and they’re not even in the middle of the lane 😉 Learn from their riding.

I wouldn’t want anyone overtaking me on a bend like that – there is no visibility around the corner. I’d probably be even more central in the lane until I could see clearly ahead.

  5. no bike lane or shoulder, I would assert myself in the lane too to avoid getting run over. Cars can pass when they have an opening.

  6. >creating a train of cars behind him

He’s not creating a problem, he’s operating his vehicle safely. Being behind the wheel of a car does not guarantee the opportunity to push the speed limit for the duration of the trip.
