Was pretty much gifted this Trek marlin 4 and was wondering what exactly needs to be done to fix this rusty cassette and chain. Is it worth replacing? Or should I just continue to ride it?

Replace the chain, and scrub the cassette with a wire brush and wd40 or something off the bike to clean that up. I’d also get new shifter and brake cables. Also, check brake pads.
