Are you gonna throw the bars or do tailwhips enough to need it? Aaron Ross ran a brake without one for much of his career.

    Up to you.

Personally, I’ve run a straight cable for the last 20 years (switching when almost everyone was still running a gyro, and well before everyone had taken their brakes off). The thing I found was I just wasn’t spinning the bars enough to warrant needing one, and got sick of replacing upper cables. Less moving parts, less to go wrong.

But that was my reasoning. If you want to fit one, go nuts! If for no other reason, they do look cool (especially the GTX-S kit Odyssey does).

Do you do a lot of barspins or tailwhip type tricks..? If not then it’s not really necessary.

I think straight cable works better too, more responsive and less give/slack in the cable although modern gyro might be better now, I haven’t used one in like a decade or more haha

If you are worried about how much your cable can move around where it hangs out around the bars you can try what I do with mine…

I put one of those removable gyro tabs on the side the cable goes by the head tube and zip tied the brake cable to the tab. Then instead of using the Velcro strap around the cable and top tube like most people do, wrap it around the cable and the crossbar on your handlebars.

It will bring the cable in closer to the bars and it will hang more along and below the non lever side instead of swinging way out in front and it doesn’t affect the way the brakes work at all.

  4. I wouldn’t. But it’s your call. Your cable length seems appropriate for at least three full rotations while maintaining use of your brakes. Maybe zip tie the cable to the other side of your TT.

Unless you do double barspins then just keep this setup bc it’s lighter

  6. Not related to gyro, but how do you like those mirage tyres? I’m thinking to get some
