Wow. Her whole attitude (as reported here) seems like excuses and poor sportsmanship. Shit happens and it sucks that it happened to her in the Olympic race, but I have a little less sympathy after reading this.

But if she just took the outer lane then there’s no foul anyways. Both are just a straight empty line so it might be a rule but I don’t see how it’s any advantage. If I remember right the Swedish woman did the same no? Also Haley kept attacking afterwards and Sweden couldn’t follow. The result would be the same.
