I recently purchased my first Brooks saddle and after reading many horrors related to its breaking period, I just want to make sure to do the right thing. Apart from maintening it with Brooks’Proofide, is there anything I should ne doing to keep it clean and avoid damaging it?! Tks in advance!

My solution to Brooks saddles has always been eBay. I’ve been cycling for a loooong time, and I’ve been drawn in by the Brooks lovers more than once, but no matter how long or how hard I tried, I’ve never been able to survive riding one. Saddles are so subjective—one person’s solution is another’s poison. If you find that you’re a Brooks person, excellent. If not—sell it on eBay.

Get some proofide from Brooks & follow their instructions.
i’d beat it repeatedly with my taint. over and over. but first i would put something oily on the underside if I didn’t have fenders to prevent it from getting wet, which prevent excessive breakdown. Dont turn any bolts to make it tight or loose

Keep it out of direct sun, preferably shaded by your butt riding all day
