In this episode we cross the border into France with ease as there is no actual border crossing! So the Tour De France proper begins with a gentle, short ride to the seaside town of Anglet, where we were due to meet our very good friends Tony and Claire and their family for lunch, before pressing on to our final destination of Mont De Marsan.
Anglet is a lovely chilled place famous for its surfing culture and laid back atmosphere and well worth a visit.
The small town of Mont De Marsan was a convenient stop off on our way to Bergerac and in truth, we knew nothing about it before the trip. It turned out to be a lovely little town with a great hotel right at the confluence of two major rivers and a very scenic place to stay. Instead of the Michelin starred restaurant we opted for a Guinness and tapas (!) at the local Irish pub in the evening. We did, however, sample a Michelin starred breakfast the morning afterwards – which was interesting!
We hope you enjoy this short video and thanks for watching!

Happy to have Breakfast with you! Great tour!
Have you got headsets to talk to each other during rides? Great to see you out as ever xxx
Isn't France wonderful when you're not in a hurry, cruising along tree lined (empty) roads and stopping off for coffee's (or in my case fizzy water😅) I'm surprised that you both didn't need a second breakfast after that pompous effort, eggs and jam! 😂
love the new 360 camera shots and your editing has gone up quite a few notches. Well done. Really enjoying this tour and living vicariously through both of you.
Tenéis la culpa de que me haya comprado la Triumph Tiger 900. Podéis pedir vuestra comisión a Triumph 😂
My wife and myself have been motorcycle touring for years when we aren't on a trip I like to look at videos like yours for inspiration for route's and locations. Your videos are well produced very watchable and helpful in giving me new ideas.
So relaxing watching your travels, lovely roads and peaceful villages. Ride safe.
Sorry to tell you you got it wrong for the Roquefort village. It’s not the one for the cheese. The cheese Roquefort comes from Aveyron. I do appreciate your videos. I’m French, my husband’s English and funnily enough we’ve got exactly the same motorbikes, even the same colors ! Keep on the good work ! Next time you visit this part of France, we live on the coast about 40 miles north of Biarritz !
Just ask for an entire list of what's in season and then what's in stock, asking why they haven't got an item in stock if it's in season. That should suitably annoy the pompous chef! Yes, that sort of thing really winds me up, like eating food off various kitchen items rather than a plate. It's the "Red" in me again! 😉
Sorry, but there's no blue cheese in your Roquefort. The famous cheese is made 326 km away in Roquefort-sur-Soulzon, which is near the Millau Viaduct. It is best eaten locally as it can get very smelly in the bottom of a pannier 😂
Do you have other episodes? Does it begin in France? Putting episode numbers in the title would help. meanwhile, no 'like'.
Great video 1st time I’ve watched 🏴
Liked and thanks as always…
Beautiful triump !!!!
You guys are incredible. We’re just staying between Bergerac and Bordeaux right now and have flown, but there’s no way I would have the stamina to bike here although we are trying to keep a toddler happy which is tricky in rural France with so few parks and swimming pools. I hear there’s been a global IT meltdown, let’s hope we can all get back home safely.
Another great video.
Keep 'em coming ☝️😎
Enjoyed the episode thanks. Like you, we enjoy a good hotel but pretentious chefs (and menus) are really off putting.
You've got to love the low traffic levels of Spain & France compared to the packed roads of the UK. Eating late there takes a little more getting used to, especially if you want an early start the next day.
Good job guys and thank you!
Thanks for another great episode; I look forward to every one. In my three visits to France I had a decidedly, um, unpleasant experience. So I’m happy to live vicariously through your good experience. Thanks again.
My wife and i always watch and enjoy your video's, and it must be the first time we've ever heard Sue angry towards someone ( the chef) and rightly so😊 we did laugh 😂 we did wonder if it's simply a case of alot of french resenting us or they're just built that way? Ride safe, be well👍🏻
Enjoyed the content very much look forward to the next one all the best to you both
Hello if you feel this question is either too personal or dare I say impertinent please feel free not to answer it,I have observed that both yourself and Sue aren't the type of people who change your bikes on a whim so at what mileage and age do you begin to think about buying a new bike? Many thanks for the great vids cheers.
Looking forward to next weeks with Oradour-Sur-Glane, went there a few years ago such a moving place
Can you tell me what sort of mpg you get from the Tiger 900 on your tour please?
Great video thanks for the ride along 👍👍
Meant to say…for a coffee and cake, 'salon de the' is a fabulous cafe in Oradour.
Moving place so nice to stop for a coffee afterwards.
😎☝️
Cannot believe you did not visit barritz while you were in the area.
Nice video guys. The only thing I miss about living in Australia is not being able to tour through France on the bike. Route Napolean through the Verdun was amazing. Cheers, Nick
These trees on both sides of the road forming an alleyway, are so, um, French. Love it.
An observation, as a former advanced police driving assessor I would humbly recommend some advanced motorcycle rider training for Sue's safety. At the start of your video the footage shows her continuing to indicate left whilst turning right on a roundabout and then cancelling her indicator quite late. Very confusing for following traffic. I know the use of indicators in France is somewhat optional but we can do better, Your steady riding style is to be commended especially on trips abroad and I do enjoy your exploits.
Looks fantastic. 👍
I am so glade you finally got to do the Tour de France! Beautiful places ❤️
