I have a 1969 Raleigh, and it’s like a brick. I can’t imagine how much heavier a bike from the 30’s was. It blows my mind that this guy can ride so far on such a heavy thing.
Those gears might be tough, but the roads look wonderful and the racing cyclists of the ’20s and ’30s were Gods.
Just look at the curve on that front fork! It just reeks “compliance”

I’ve resold a Raleigh Cadent 5.0 several years back. It rode fine – more upright, but it wasn’t the vintage one I was looking for. I never owned one and am curious as to what sets them apart. Most of the ones in the local market have internal rusting so bad, it doesn’t even *ping* right for a Reynolds steel.
Browsing Aliexpress, it’s inevitable to gravitate towards cycling stuff, and I found this:
