Yesterday, I received a notification on Facebook about my first bikepacking trip in July 2020. All I had was my old 90s Trek road bike, a mosquito netting, an air mattress, and a fleece blanket. It was a short 20 miles out and 20 miles back one nighter. I was a great time (and a cold night), but a great learning experience.
Four years later, I've done about 10 trips and have upgraded almost everything I have (slowly over time). I just wanted to post this to show anyone who is curious about starting, that you don't need a lot to start, and you don't have to buy everything all at once. On the last morning of all my trips I always ask myself and the people I'm with… what are some lessons learned? What could we have used that we didn't bring/have? What did we bring that was a waste a space.
Well anyway, hope this inspires anyone that is thinking about getting into bikepacking 🙂

This is the spirit! Something a lot of people forget and some get option paralysis due to all the options.

I’ll just caveat this question:
> What did we bring that was a waste a space.
There are items that you WANT to bring but you hope to NEVER use. Those would be the First Aid Kit and the Bike “First Aid Kit” 🙂
