Does this need to be replaced entirely? Is this best left to a LBS? I have no idea what I’m looking at tbh, but it doesn’t have the copper bit that unscrews/releases air. What’s left doesn’t unscrew. On a bike I just bought…

Just get a valve core tool and new core. Then go to Youtube and you’ll find instructions there.

  3. If it doesn’t leak any air it’s fine. No need to replace it. Use small pliers if you can’t open the top part by hand.

  4. Looks like it has a replaceable valve core. I’d go down that route before you get a whole new valve.

  5. I mean, sometimes they bend. Especially if you routinely run without the covers that are supposed to be on there precisely to protect this very fragile piece of steel.

  6. As long as it doesn’t leak it should be fine. If you really don’t like it though just ask your LBS for one. I had a clogged one a couple months ago and they just gave me like a handful of valve cores for free.
