Let's say I buy one of these mirrors: https://www.bike-discount.de/en/ergotec-m-99-handlebar-mirror
I've seen Youtube videos where they mount them under the bar. On the other hand, every motorbike mirror (because all motorbikes have mirrors while bycicles generally don't, so there's no clear trend) I've ever seen is over the bar.
So that makes me wonder, is there any reason you'd mount them under the bar for regular, straight bars (not drop bars)?

I think when people do that it’s just for aesthetics. I’ve tried it though and it is certainly less convenient to use that when mounted above.
Side note, I highly recommend mirrors that are convex light car side mirrors are, gives you a much wider view.
