1990-ish Gary Fisher frame, possibly a prototype (no SN) for the Sphinx. Deore drivetrain, Surly Cornerbar, Cane Creek 200TT and Crosstop brakes. Just an all around fun bike that I’m proud of putting together.
Love it. Those 90’s rigid MTB’s aren’t up to modern off-road standards, but they are damn fine road bikes, and perfect gravel bikes. I dig that custom paint too. I bet that thing is a riot tearing down a fire road.
I used to sell Gary Fisher at a shop back in the 90’s, and I rode a 91 Bridgestone MB-1 as a commuter for a while. It was comfy and sturdy and handled beautifully, and I shocked a few people on that thing on climbs and descents. I bet you have similar stories.
Ride it like you stole it, and post more pics.
