There are several Nishiki catalog scans online, did you look through those?

My mum has a late 80s Muddyfox mixte with 26″ mtb wheels. You don’t come across that particular type of frame very often! Yours has a nicer fork (lugged vs unicrown) and cantis all round beats the chainstay u-brake, but I like the MF’s wacky paint job.
