I’ve been in the market for my first fixed gear and live in an area where there isn’t much on the used market but I’ve stumbled across this. I’ve also included a screenshot of the components/description. What do you think this bike is worth? His asking price is $400 which to be pretty high in my opinion but the post has been up for a long time so I can probably get him to go lower.

Lets address the fact that things are worth whatever someone is willing to pay- I ride track bikes, not conversions- I wouldn’t pay anything for it but I would expect it to go for between $225-350 depending on the market but it only takes one buyer
$400 is way too much, it’s a conversion which imo already brings the price down. wheels are mid, low range crankset, no straps. Current schwin travelers that arent conversions go for around $100-200, but thats with older parts so id pay at most $250 but thats if this is the only option you have
Probably $100 – $200 range and no higher, objectively speaking.
It’s a 40+ year old frame, admittedly made of cromo but with a hi-ten fork. Being era-complete would probably be make it worth a little more. As is, it’s got low-end fixed gear parts on it which makes it less interesting to most people looking for old bikes.
You could buy one of these on eBay *with* era appropriate road parts for $106 right now. Same size even.
You could get comparable parts to convert it yourself for way less than the $300 difference remaining. Could probably sell the replaced components too, if you wanted to.
$400 for that is actual crazy person talk.
It’s a conversion in a relatively uncommon size.

300 tops. That front brake cable is shotty and the pedals are bmx pedals with no cages or straps. The paint job is nice but its a Schwinn single speed conversion project. You could get the same outcome for half the price if you did it yourself. The red is nice though.

I’d say try to get the price down a bit but if you reeeeaaaaly want it and have the money, that’s on you. Goodluck! Also, imo it looks pretty cool.
