We were crossing Bulgaria from Bansko to Burgas via the Sub-Balkan road. The trip starts in Bansko, a charming mountain resort with a vibrant digital nomad community. The first two days are beautiful mountain landscapes with a stop in Velingrad, famous for its hot springs. It has a fantastic descent on the second day down to the valley. From there, we go north to merge with the Sub-Balkan road, which we follow all the way to the Black Sea. It’s an old country road along the rose valley going through small Bulgarian towns. In Kazanlak, we take an extra day to climb up to the infamous Buzludhza, a star wars like monument from the communist times. From Burgas we take the train back to Bansko. It’s a beautiful train ride on a narrow gauge train
