Marzocchi 66RV top cap

I've got a bit of a dilemma.

Old forks, obsolete part and no available valve adaptors here in Australia – Fox Australia no help whatsoever.

So thinking of drilling out core, tapping and inserting brass valve and small nut under to secure.

Pro's – will be similar to the old top cap, and will be a easy fix if the valve ever craps out.

Con's – protruding valve upper – crown does not pass under frame so will not shear off on a stack.

Any ideas from the mechanically inclined – thickness of the inner material is at best guess 2mm… Pictures tell a story – any input welcomed.
