  1. I have an AR 1 of the same year. They’re great bikes and would buy another if I needed too.

    That bike seems pretty clean. Not sure what you meant by the brake hoods. They look fine. I would just factor the cost of having a shop look it over into your budget. See what they say. Worst case scenario chains and hoods are easily replaced. 

    That said I personally think $550 is fair if it truly has low miles. Maybe offer $500 if you’re really unsure. Bicycle Blue Book estimates it to be at $480 in “very good” condition. (BBB isn’t always very accurate by maybe it helps your negotiation)
