Hey, I have a problem with my Grizl 7 AL. I‘ve never had any crashed with the bike and own it since last November. Yesterday when I washed my bike I spotted something that for me looks like crack/ rip near the weld seam. I already contacted Canyon and send them a few photos and they want to contact me with further information.
Just curious if you think it’s the actual frame that has a crack or might just be the paint? Would you still ride with the bike or wait until I hear back from canyon?
Has anyone had a similar case and how did canyon respond?
I heard from my brother (he is a bike mechanic) that aluminum frame‘s are hard to repair and that they probably switch the frame? But I think my color is not available anymore and the Grizl 7, size m in general is also not available until October. I have now 3 month holidays and wanted to ride my bike a lot and wanted to do some bikepacking..

It looks like a defect (air pocket) in the weld. I would personally keep riding it, but only short/day rides, and keep an eye on it at each ride, however I suggest you not to do so and wait for Canyon to respond 🙂
Doesn’t look like a crack.
I’d ride it.
all Grizl AL frames are the same so don’t worry about the Grizl 7 not being available anymore, maybe different colour though.
Hard to tell from photos, may just be the paint. May need to be sanded down to make sure the weld is OK if it seems like it is affecting the metal.
Canyon (Germany) replaced my matcha Grizl frame with the same color within a week beginning this year. I think they did not sell this color for months when I reported an issue / warranty claim. They seem to have reasonable stock of „old“ frames. RMA / exchange process was super painless and fast.
