Hello cyclist men and women,
I need your opinions on this bike I picked up recently for £250 (~$320). I got it off a family friend who is unable to cycle anymore and wanted someone to carry on the legacy of the bike.
What I need your help with is the frame. He said it was a Ribble carbon frame which is unbranded who he got off a contact at Merlin (they’re not too far away from where we live). However I can’t find anywhere a frame from Ribble which looks similar. Can you help me find the frame if you know it?
Another thing, I’m just curious on how good of a deal the bike is or isn’t. It’s my first ever bike so I’m not too sure, I will list the specs I know below.
Shimano 105 gear set
Shimano 105 rim breaks
Shimano RS wheels
RSP Carbon seat post
3T Stem
Easton EC70SL Handlebar
Fabric Saddle

If that 5700-generation 10-speed 105 groupset is original to the bike, it would be from around 2010. You are unlikely to find any current frame from Ribble that looks like that, if that frame is ~14 years old.
105 has gone through 3 more iterations since then: 5800 11sp, R7000 11sp, and the current R7100 12sp.
£250 is fair for a bike with a 5700 groupset that looks like it’s been maintained pretty well.
Looks like what they call an “open mould” frame, a frame that can be bought from a factory without a brandname on it so a smaller (or even big) brand can put their own brandname on it.
It isn’t necessarily a bad thing, they are often made in the same factory as the big brands.
The groupset isn’t anything special but also a highly reliable groupset that you can easily find parts for.
I think it’s a reasonable price.
£250 for carbon frame and 105 groupset. Mate you made a really nice deal, it’s a bargain
An abandoned one.
Looks like one of their older R872 frames. Not sure what year but something similar to this:

Looks like a Bianchi Sempre
I’m pretty sure it is the R872, possibly the 2013 model. Source: i have one in my back yard with a seatpost stuck fast inside it.
