After locking up my bike to the shopping cart corral for months at the local supermarket with other cyclists park inside, the shopping center has responded to demand with a bike rack
It’s not my favorite style of rack, and it’s not even secured to the ground, which I’ll mention to the manager. But I’m happy to accept a step in the right direction.
The only way to lock a bike on that “rack” is as shown on the picture.

Better to lock it to the barrier.

What an optimistic bunch here!

It’s a sign they are noticing! I get happy when I see a new painted gutter bike lane, even. Anything, please! Haha
Takes the early brave ones to make changes for the rest. Ride on!

BIIIG NEWS bikes are transportation too. You are valid bike user.

It’s a win and a step in the right direction. Good work! Maybe for next time you can give the manager specific recommendations, like the in-ground mounted “squiggle” or “hoop”-style racks. Perhaps you did and this is what you got, but specific recommendations can def be helpful

No, this is a middle finger to you, not an accommodation. They think you are a nuisance and that you will accept any moldy crumb they give you. No one who regularly uses a bike would endorse a rack of this design. They didn’t even have the decency to anchor it to the pavement, so your bike is more vulnerable to theft using this rack than if you locked to the corral. I’d keep locking to the corral and inform management that the rack doesn’t meet established standards for public accommodation.

Better than nothing, but is it bolted to the ground?

What’s the black thing on your fork? Is that an attachment point for a panier?
