  1. I’m building up a new bike to replace a stolen one. But I had this one available that didn’t quite work for me – the bars weren’t quite right. So I took it over to my bike shop for some upgrades: new gearing, new brake levers and a dynamo hub! I had lights and pedals available to put on this one. This will be my backup commuter! Can’t wait to pick it up from the shop this week.

I will never understand how anyone rides a bike with the nose on the saddle pointed up. It seems like 80% of the pictures I see with a Brooks have the saddle skyrocketing upward.

  3. This bike has the Shimano Nexus Hub. Other bike will use the higher end Shutter Precision. I left my lights on all the time, no big difference in drag with the SP hub, it was imperceptible for me. I think someone did some experiments in a review and it cost them like 10 minutes in a century ride.

  4. Update:
Picked up my bike today! And got a short rundown on the updates. The shop did an awesome job taking in my wishlist, and the shifting is so smooth now too! We had an awesome chat about much they love working on old bikes too. 😀

The cranks are shorter now, so we’ve played around with seat height to move it up!

I biked home, and this bike feels zippy and stable. Happy with the gearing on the annoying hill near home. And visibility was good with the higher bars!

Excited to get to know this bike in the coming weeks!

  5. Update #2: I’ve ridden a couple of times this week. These Nitto Noodles are the easiest drop bars ever. Also, moving from the 28mm tires to these 1.25 made such a huge difference on the terrible roads. I’m not annoyed on the iffy patch on my commute. Debating keeping the rear rack on this bike. We’ll see.

Forgot how much more I love baskets over porteur racks when I have smaller stuff. Good thing the “N” bike will also have one.

  6. It is! And I just got a Riv saddlebag to complete it. 😂😂😂

    Pics coming soon.
