Hi guys, this weekend I did the first real graveltour of 350km in 2 days. I really love the bike and it’s extremely fast on both tarmac and gravel. Might even feel faster on gravel.

Unfortunately my bike bag scratched my seatpost. It’s not such a big of a deal, but still I would rather have it look clean.

Do you guys have any tips on stuff I might apply to it in order to make it less visible? Thanks a lot!

Bro what, this isn’t aluminum this is carbon. Also I wouldn’t put much weight in the bag attached to it.

  2. Could remove it, mask the logos and just respray it with some satin black car paint, it doesn’t look like matte to me.

As others have said, tape the hell out of your bike if you’re attached bags. My Grizl got some much tape around the head tube for my recent bike tour its almost silly. No way I was having the paint get damaged.

  3. Not an answer to OPs question but I am curious: are those marks purely aesthetic or can they also cause structural damage (I am thinking about increased wear and tear in the future or damaging the carbon somehow).

  4. I don’t think black paint will match the shade of black from the carbon seat post, but fwiw I have used black Sharpie (real high tech, I know…) to hide the scratches and knicks to my raw carbon frame, and under most lighting conditions it does a good job. Give that a try, especially since a black permanent marker is pretty cheap and easy to apply.

  5. Degrease with rubbing alcohol, buy mat black paint ans sprat two coats, wait 24h to dry.

    Edit: typo

  6. I wouldn’t bother. Whatever DIY job you do will look worse in time than this does. If it bothers you so much just get a new seat post.

Out of interest, what caused this?
