Picked up this Italian Legnano Thrax this morning. Pretty cool paint under 30 years of grime! Original owner got it as a teen in Sicily and been riding ever since emigrating to USA. There's not much on web about Legnano but apparently this is a mid-range 1992 (probably from same factory as GT!) with Suntour XC components. Not sure it's worth the whole nine yards as a restomod, but convince me what you would do?

Super cool looking bike. I’d swap out the grips, pedals, and tires if needed and crack the dork disc off.
Not a lot.
Polish the silver bits, rock the paint work. Patchy original with patina almost always out shines worthless newe paint job.
Maaaaaybe some better wheels. A bit of a refresh and service then you’re good.
Id personally whack a basket on the front and put some street tyres on because I use my for my commute and hate a sweat back.
Boom
This bike right now, as is, is cooler than 99% of stuff we see here.
Not sure if this is your attitude, but I think it’s silly to frame the question of “worth” in a financial or performance sense. This is a bike that you own because it looks fucking rad, no one else has one, and it rides well enough. I think whatever you do with it, you should lean into what makes it cool and unique. And wear neon spandex shorts whenever you ride it or you’re being a pussy.
Wow 😲😲😲😲😲😲😲
Step one. Do not do a low effort post.
Step two ride the bike and swap what you don’t like
Step three if you’re doing it for the money you’re not on the right sub
Bike is called _THRAX_ , pretty much sick as-is with a tune-up, new rubber, and maybe some replaced touch points to taste if-needed.
Really a rad bike. I saw a few being sold here around (Austria), but not as nice as this one.
There is a wiki article about Legnano in Italian and German, also with their history (I’m sure there is more):
https://it.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legnano_(azienda)
https://de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legnano_(Unternehmen)
But not so uncommon, here someone sells such a bike too for 200 $, also from Sicily xD

Slap on some comfy pedals and ride it

If you don’t have a vision for what this bike should be then just leave it as is or refurb/upgrade parts that need it. Above all else just ride it.
That’s fucking beautiful.
Looks fantastic. Hard to see but generally a wider handlebar with some back sweep can improve your experience. I wouldn’t replace anything that already works though.
That’s a thing of beauty. Lovely!
I love the 26 style frames but personally prefer changing them to modern components, I just like 1×12 more than 3×7 or 8. So I’m not overly precious in preserving them and keeping all the drivetrain and components
That being said, this is awesome, it looks so nice. I dont want/need any more bikes but I’d have that in a heartbeat. I would not change anything and just use it as is, unless it needs new tyres or something
RIDE IT !
Ride it
Dam that’s cool, I can’t tell if that original seat is as perfect as I think it is, but that’s pretty amazing in and of itself. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with replacing the seat post & making the bike lighter by replacing the crankset & chainrings with say vintage deore and biopace. You’ve got biopace chainrings or something like it, on the bike now.
Keep the saddle. Replace consumables. Spend a lot on tyres. Another handlebar AT MOST (only if it’s uncomfy)
That saddle and the saturated orange…
Just ride it around and blind people 😅
Take it on some sweet jumps
