Added knew grips and Dmr v11 pedals this is my first bmx the size fits me well but I have heard brakeless bmx is illegal on the road do the police in the uk actually care?I don’t really care but just wondering if anyone actually know of anyone getting fined or anything for this

Brakeless is the way, fuck the bobby’s.
I prefer brakeless, just less maintenance I gotta do to my bike that I’m just throwing around all day anyways
Brakes are fun. Not necessary, but fun nonetheless.
I have a Kink Desist brake with an Odyssey Monolever Small and Odyssey Linear Slick cable, and with a black chrome 7ka, this setup stops on a dime.
Brakes are actually pretty simple to setup, and once they’re dialed, you shouldn’t have to mess with them. It’s typically the cheap brakes and gyro setups that cause problems.
Edit- things to be aware of when setting up brakes
1- be sure to toe-in your pads to keep squeaking down. You want the front of the pad to hit the rim just before the rest of the pad
2- the face of your brake pad should be parallel with the sidewall of your rim.
3- chrome rims will stop better than anodized or painted.
A rear brake will save your shoes and tyres 😂
Yeah brakes are swag, I run the Springfield’s with the giro and the weird old school levers. Rarely do any maintenance on them.
They will fuck up the paint on your rims but stoppies and endos are worth it for me. Also they are good for avoiding clueless scooter sprogs.
Clear pads are good but they shriek like a mofo. I use the old vans shoe ones because you can tune them silent and they bite.

No brakes help you progress. Brakes unlock some tricks. Sounds weird but do not use them to slow down unless absolutely necessary doing this will get you stuck in a progression rut. The amount of people I see tapping the brakes before everything and not getting enough speed to do their trick or jump high is absurd.
