Hello just bought and assembled a new bike who's rear wheel half was already assembled (with cassette etc) however when adding weight to the petals the chain eventually jumps into the space between the cassette.
What causes this and what are my options to fix?

limit screw adjustment. might as well do a full adjustment
very likely the derailleur hanger was bent in transit
Assembled by people who have no idea what they are doing, most likely. Either take it back or learn how to adjust the derailer yourself.
Fixable. Probably not expensive. Take it to a bike shop.
Limiters.
Set that proper and get rid of the dork disk
Take off the dork disc
set the limits screw properly and then you can use the dork disk as a free frisbee
