As Julian knows, I did this ride three years ago. Great to be reminded of it. The Mamore Gap is a really tough climb, and I can’t imagine trying it with (as Julian didn’t know at the time, I think) COVID! Well done indeed.
Be interested to see how you go Julian. I had been wanting to do this route for ages with a company called Peak Tours. Have fun
Now that's exactly why Ireland is on my bucket list – stunning stuff.
Good scenery is beautiful in the sunshine and dramatic in the rain, and you had both beauty and drama in spades by the look of it.
I must admit I was laughing at the ditch incident until you showed us all the blooded limbs – bet they stung a bit in the shower that evening!
That looked a superb ride all round, although you sounded a tad rough there at the end – hope all is well.
Great stuff!
The Wild West Coast, the ancestral home of the Miffy family (co. Mayo). Fabulous film, thanks!
🤞🤞 for a speedy recovery!
Very nice report, thank you. But why use dark sunglasses in the rain? 😉
Congratulations Julian. Never done it, but I will within the year. Would you do it North to South and this time take in Achill and the Island? Surprised the route did not appear to take you that way.
A brilliant tour! I've read several books about Ireland. One was written by an Irish expatriate who returned to cycle the whole of Ireland. Apparently there are lots of tourist traps surrounding the beehive shrines on the coast. Some of them have been partially restored. Also, the locals tend to have a sarcastic brand of humor. The other book is about a trip around Ireland toting a refrigerator. It seems you can't dodge the weather there for long. This is one of your finest videos. Thank you for taking us along.
You spare no expensive or risk to bodily harm to bring your viewers cutting edge entertainment. I thought I was watching a National Geographic episode. Hats off my good fellow!
Thanks so much for the filming of your trip! I enjoyed the ride along and thought of rides past. The ridding was beyond my imagination of what I thought you were experiencing when following your trip. I was impressed with the strength both physical and mental. The wind, rain, cold and condition of the roads were much tougher than I could of imagined. Very good job, ridding the route!
Gorgeous scenery Julian, makes me want to visit home 🚴☘️
Well done and you did it the hard way. It's uphill going south to north.
Great video Julian – looks like a beautiful part of the world if a little damp! Hope you’re getting over Covid now….? See you after France in September.
Very nice Julian. It’s amusing that you’ve previously ruled out mountain biking as it’s considered to be the dangerous cycling discipline! I think it’s possibly the other way around 😂
Really enjoyed being along for the ride.
The sacrifices you make to bring us a little armchair entertainment! Blood, toil, (tears?) and sweat … what an epic. Cheers 👍🏼
Fabulous. Truly gives a great indication of the rigours of a stage race. You captured the west coast of Ireland brilliantly.
Look mate, when I were a lad, we used t, stop by wayside, light a fire and cook lunch up, it was called a "Drum up". These days are long gone, the whole World is a shit fest. Roll on The Revolution.
Very nice video. I hope you liked the journey. It looked like a very scenic trip. We visited Killarney and Tralee back in 2002, so this brought back some great memories.
Did several chunks of this by car with R&K in August 1975. Mizen Head to Connemara. Occasionally better weather. Sadly no photos. Must go back – one day.
Inspiring, well done 🙂
Another great video, well done Julian😊
