Kink Whip, unsure what year. Got this bike used off craigslist and wondering when I need new parts and what some mystery sounds are. Brought it to a bike shop for the guy to “check up” on it cuz I don’t know much about bikes. He said it was fine.
Brakes are real hard to stop myself but I’m used to disc brakes so idk if I’m just getting used to pad still. When I pedal hard the bike clicks all around, little sounds. On the left pedal sometimes when I’m going and it’s in the ‘up’ position it feels like the crank snaps. Not like it’s gonna break but it feels weird. You know when you rotate your wrist and you can feel your tendons scoot over one another? It’s like that. Told the bike shop guy and he couldn’t repeat the sound.
Thinking that my tire tread looks real bad. I ride mostly on street but like to take it to dirt sometimes. Should I get tires?

The tires are most likely for street use so they still have life left. For me, I like to ride tires as much as possible so until I see no tread on some areas, then I buy new tires. So imo those will still last on street, but for dirt, you might have some issues gripping the dirt. But that’s for most street tires even brand new. And for the pedal noise, from my experience it could be that the axle is bent and is rubbing on the pedal itself, or it could just need some lube and tightening. In general, bike looks good so I don’t think you should worry too much. In some areas, it’s hard to check the conditions of some parts like bars, forks, etc cuz wear is always different so I switch them out every 2-3 years or so but It also depends on abuse.
