  2. Make the first ride without a child and put backpack filled with waterbottles in the seat to get used to how to balance with extra weight in the rear.

    Also don’t get on a bike with swinging leg over saddle.

  3. * Don’t rely on that kickstand alone, when having a kid back there.
    * Pet the dogs.

  4. I have a similar setup, make sure you have a sturdy wall to lean on when putting the kind in/out. Make sure their helmet chin strap is snugly fitted (mine has a habit of trying to remove hers). Handling of the bike is quite different with a child in the seat, ideally, you need to keep your weight forward, and it is possible to topple backwards if you lean back or are hopping up kerbs etc, I have had a couple of near misses

  5. Consider a longer metal part (have no idea how is it called, sorry), it will move the seat further backward, leaving more space for your kid.

    Get a handlebar mounted bag since you won’t be able to get a large backpack anyway.

    And learn to take your kid out of the seat while holding a bike – I used to turn around still having a bike between my legs.

    We decided not to chance bouncing our son’s head off the ground and took turns or got a sitter. Son started going on slow club rides when he was 10. 12 years after, he can drop me anytime he wants.

    Get a cargo bike for carrying the kiddo. You’ll be much happier riding it for that purpose

    We have a front seat setup which is awful, I’ve been pulling a trailer for a year plus nad like it.

    Easy disconnect and weight isn’t terrible pulling behind.

  9. I have that seat and love it.

    My only issue is my heels will clip the foot rests of the child seat if they are down as far as you have them in the picture. I moved them up a notch or two, which solved the problem. I have never received a passenger complaint.
