we’re going to play a game that we’re calling love tolerate kill I’m going to list three things for example SRAM Shimano or campag and you’re going to have to pick which one you love which one you tolerate and which one you’d kill off entirely if you could titanium carbon alloy titanium what what about it just titanium sorry love titanium uh love titanium for the environment I’m going to say kill carbon tolerate alloy alloy is recycl carbon’s not mhm um in terms of riding I would say tolerate carbon kill alloy uh love Titanium on every aspect there is there’s nothing that you can’t love it for I’m for this one I am kill carbon love alloy tolerate titanium alloy is uh cheap it works really well the only thing I don’t like about it is it if you write it off it’s written off yes like well you can recycle the material presumably but in terms of uh once you crack the bike it can’t be repaired as far I’ve never known anyone I’ve never heard of anything about alloy bike repair it’s like once it’s cracked it gets really yeah it’s just gone but also I think with time your alloy bike will become softer but to crack it in the first place is quite hard it’s harder to to write off an alloy bike than it is to write off a carbon bike in my opinion yes but alloy bike will deteriorate with time how much uide it is going to depend on how quickly still it still works but like I say it’s for me it’s more of a at the moment it’s more of a thing of kill carbon because of I I understand it’s Innovative but in terms of what’s the end game yeah what did we do with carbon I think silk has found a way to take the raisin out and cut it down to make TR Sealand but it’s still like yeah that that’s that’s my standpoint on it it’s not a a thing of it’s unnecessary is like for example in cars you only see carbon in cars when they’re like uber expensive race cars at the top top end the stuff that we are driving every day are just you know made of alloy and steel and well Metals so like it seems unnecessary for us to be on carbon bikes apart from the fact we’re obsessed with weight can I just say as well on the topic of environment and unnecessary things because I know we will get it in the comments the electronic shifting obviously creates a Reliance on energy which is very un environmentally friendly so I’m just putting it out there because I know every time we talked about this before it’s unnecessary and it creates a Reliance on electric mechanical gear cables and AR housing that’s case in plastic will go through a lot more than that than through batteries I have in as a bike shop oh but there’s there is no way that those plastic outers have a larger environmental impact than batteries and the charging of those batteries every single time you need to so Gravel Road time trial kill time trial what’s the point in that that’s not fun you just suffer and you Hur no um definitely kill time trial uh tolerate road because it’s still enjoyable to do love gravel so if in a figurative environment whereby if I rode on the road there was never ever ever any issues with cars if it was as safe to ride on a road as it was to ride off-road in terms of accidents with v other vehicles and other Road users mine would be kill gravel love Road tolerate time trial and I and I know that sounds bunkers but it’s because Road riding is the best thing in the world it is unbelievably amazing it feels Wicked the bike FL I just I I’m obsessed with it I love it however I don’t do it as my primary riding because I’m always thinking about you enjoy the road because of a thrill of the speed and things like that well it’s not even it it isn’t even just about the The Thrill of the speed it’s just it just flows it’s just everything it just moves it flows you don’t have to Pedal continuously not use your brakes on a gravel bike and then you’ve got that fear of death the whole time and it’s it isn’t about fear of death it’s nothing to do with that yeah but time traling is just pain and suffering I love time traling I love it I’m actually considering getting a Time trialing by again no next up we’re going to go into some bike brands canondale Tre specialized I kill all three uh love canondale what uh I hate some of the marketing stuff they do I hate some of the uh terrible choices and bottom rackets and things they do but they make a beautiful bike and they do every now and then paint schemes and they just they’ve got some Classic Bikes back in the day Mari chiellini is red with the yellow the SE team 20 to 30 years ago canondale were yeah the perfect bike brand I have never thought of a specialized being a nicel looking bike until some of the modern stuff looks nice the more plain things they do um don’t ask me to name them but yeah so I’ll tolerate specialized for that um and I’ll kill Trek for the fact that they still do the crazy stuff that anelle does um and you mean like weird proprietary stuff I’m guessing proprietary stupid breakes in Mone that seat post nonsense of those on it’s just um yeah the massive branding on the side I I personally just don’t like it should you move on to the next one uh so these are all bike brands that Nick sells Sato tomasini time so Sato is an Italian custom carbon manufacturer they make them all in Italy tomasini is a custom well actually I think they both do off the shelf as well but you can do custom on both somini is a steel Italian bike manufacturer and time is a French carbon not custom carbon manufacturer that has a weave thing which is also like fesco which are a lot more expensive so there we go love tolerate kill go this this is like ask me which one of my children you want me to kill of um which one I love most you only have one child luckily for you guys oh luckily for me and lucky for you fin loop on this one I’m going to go love time because the Innovation on how they make their uh frame set so they do obviously the the how they weave the carbon um on a loom so yeah uh Innovation wise there’s nobody close to them so I’m going to absolutely love that tolerate Sato and I’m only saying tolerate Sato because they make unbelievable bikes but the carbon is not the same as times so that’s that’s the only reason and then I could never killed tomasini cuz tomasini is my favorite bike brand of all time but they’re making electric bike so kill the electric tomasini what yeah we we like ebikes I like ebikes but it’s just not what thomasin is about tomasini is about classic steel with Campa group say on it but as a brand I love tomasini the most is

Charging the batteries is an environmental problem. š¤š¤¦āāļøš¤¦āāļøš¤¦āāļøš¤¦āāļøš¤¦āāļøš¤¦āāļø
Woman bringing emotions into engieering.
Is this a podcast for overweight freds?
You like e bikes but hate on Di2 shifting. I want my 7 minutes back. Cycling blowhards.
Damn this dude is (the grey haired guy) is way out of touch related to manufacturing and end of life impacts.
Love these. Curious why not Gravel/Road/Mountain?
I appreciate everyone here in the comments calling out their ignorance regarding environmental impact of battery charging and lack of understanding of how renewable energy works
NOT CORRECT you can repair ANY alloy frame think small racing engines the alloy blocks are repaired all the time here i have seen alloy fork tubes repaired numerous times not a problem .Gravel Sucks.
TIME being a French manufacturer is quite debatable since they make frames in Slovakia.
Can you elaborate about how long we can expect an alloy frame to last? Mine is 10 years old, used a lot, but I take good care of it.
i dont get the love for Ti. Ti bikes ride like delivery trucks. carbon bikes are COMFY. alloy is the same as Ti for me… why ride a frame that makes it harsher on an already harsh platform .
Funny, ask anyone of these guys if they drive an Electric Car. OH those BATTERIES ! Gona bury them right? So good for the "environment".
Titanium Mechanical Champagnolo Road, or go MTB
What is going on with this channel??? Is this still about cycling or now an enviro channel??
Smells like environmental virtue signaling in here.
carbon for the fancy beautiful road bike… alloy for all the other 15 bikes that we want to have š
Road riding is the best thing in the world. What? Clearly you don't have the skills to mountain bike! : )
ride in the Netherlands, safe on the road ;)! still have to look out yourself off course :D!
Lots of misinformation-āCars use metal but bikes use carbon for weightā. Cars also use a lot of plastic/composites coincidentally also for weight savings. TIME uses resin transfer molding but they are not alone, 3T does the same for their frames made in Italy.
In terms of environmental impact carbon fibre is not as bad. If a carbon fibre frame suffers a small hole in a crash, it can be repared. If that happens to an aluminium frame, you need to throw it away, because welding the hole shut will weaken the frame even further. And btw. Tommasini works with all mentioned materials – aluminium, carbon fibre and steel.
What do you mean by alloy, aluminum alloy? Every metal bike out there is made from some sort of alloy, so to differentiate between an alloy bike, a steel bike, and a titanium bike is nonsensical.
You lost me when you said electric shifting was āunenvironmentally friendlyā cause it causes us to have a reliance on energy. Your phone? Your computer? Producing less waste cause you donāt have to change your cables and plastic housing every year which uses energy to make these materials. Unsubscribed
And… I'm out at 2:34.
"Electronic shifting creates a reliance on energy."
You just can't make this stuff up.
You guys have some good content that interests me but the videos are really long and I end up giving up before getting to the next thing I'm interested in. Having chapters / time markers / whatever they're called in the videos would be amazing!
Sound like you are going woke with this environmentalist bulls*it …
I love the seat post nonsense on my Madone; don't knock it until you try it. Forget the aero and lightness advantage, the ride is much more comfortable than my BMC.
The girl doesn't like electronic shifting because you have to charge the shifter.
She loves E-Bikes… because you have to charge them before you use them?
WTF???
By Titanium he lost me immediately! And the arguments are just nonsense. Stopped watching right here, after finishing this comment.
How will an Alloy bike deteriorate?
So glasses guys hates carbon because he is a tree hugger but loves Time because of how the make their carbon bikes?
Lot of male hysteria on display in the coments hereš
In Ukraine everyone knows that any crack on alloy frame can be fixed by some guy at garage š
And it works for years, magic š
Totally agree with the Cannondale sentiment. I had a Saeco Team replica and it was the love of my life. It was stolen and I miss it every day.
Time trial cant happen with traffic…. u must clear the roads….. road.trail.timetrial. canyon all the way.š
Alloy (Steel or Aluminium) bikes donāt become softer, more so aluminium ⦠if you knew anything about Metallurgy, alloy becomes work hardened and stiffer with time & use, hence the reason aluminium frame are prone to cracking with age
It seems like you guys are playing a game of environmental-virtue-signaling one-upmanship. Do you tear down statues and advocate for renaming of parks, places, and institutions that are named for "problematic" historical figures in your spare time? Because you seem like that's right up your soy-drinking alley. You've jumped the shark.
Love this channel and HMU when you come to Taipei next year.
These two are so full of inaccuracies and contradictions. They canāt hate on brands and price then espouse even more expensive alternatives. Come on Cade Media, I had better hopes for you.
I only get about 4 years out of an alloy bike frame, but have never broken a Ti frame.
Alloy is cheaper to the point you can buy 10 of it in a price of a good carbon frame.
Sorry Jimmy, there are plenty of Carbon fiber parts in everyday hybrid cars from Toyota. My dad has Rav4 Prime, got a small accident, needed to replace uber expensive carbon parts, same thing happened with his Prius Prime !
These vids = Yawn
Wow, I charge my Di2 6 times a year, less that 2kWh per year in total. Most people use more than that a day for a kettle.
Oh kmon, this microscopic amounts of cycle gear wasted in comparison to all the pladtic packaging and all the fast food clothing and stuuf, thats just ridiculous
-It seems the CADE Media stance is āWE should get to have expensive carbon bikes, our VIEWERS should put up with lesser metal ones that are ālow impactā. OUR channelās shop uses wireless groupsets but YOU should buy a mechanical one for the environmentā.
-Iām not a fan of TREK or Canyon either, but Iām not going to hate on them for providing relatively accessible and affordable options to people.
-The energy required to process aluminum or titanium as a raw material into a usable alloy to then make a bicycle frame would give you three fits, evidently.
-Cars, like bikes, use a variety of materials including plastic and (gasp) carbon fiber.
-Itās been stated many times in this section, but the energy to charge a SRAM shifter battery is so minuscule itās not even worth discussing. You use more making a cup of tea.
-E Bikes are a great form of transport. They will not replace cars but can substitute in some areas. If you are worried about the energy of a Di2 battery you should not be pro-e bike, but the reason most cyclists hate on E bikes is because no one riding one that could ride a manual bike is getting the same health benefits.
Should be called Embodied energy rather than just environmental impact. Also Cradle to Grave.
Critical of the energy to recharge batteries, but everything on a bike comes in single use plastics…
Carbon just transmits your power so much smoother. I'm borrowing my dad's alloy bike since my carbon bike is in repair, and it just feels harder to transmit power through and it feels wobbly
talking environment, gravel, 99% of riders need to drive to get to a ride.
Brainless discussion on the environment. By their own logic, not building and riding any bike has the lowest "impact on the environment". Extremist logic that is unable to recognize itself.
Stop this āenvironmentalā stuff in gear cycling discussion..itās so cliche and political corrected
