Hello my friends and welcome back once again,
This week I am making the most of the final training sessions for the TCR, as I write this it is 10 days! Tis is my final harder training ride, now to coast into Roubaix. This one had all seasons in just a few hours but an epic ride into London. Running late for the train so had to push on, but great fun.
Look after yourselves, andy

how nice is this oh dear this is fun there something really fun about riding through Central London [Music] [Music] good morning welcome back to the channel and another ultracycling related video if you watched any before thanks as always for coming back if this is your first visit my name is Andy I’m ultra cyclist on the south coast of England I make videos about Ultra cycling training kit and Adventures so subscribe for more videos like [Music] this on the C for today I’m doing my last training ride before the Transcontinental race as I’m recording this is 2 weeks away and at the point you’ll watch this it’s 10 days so very very close now I did my last threshold training session on Thursday and after today is 2 weeks of Zone 2 riding all the way to rube so today I want to ride to London I booked myself a train ticket for 5 and 1/ half hours time just a bit touch and go that I’ll make it on top of that it’s just started raining so great I reckon I’ll be all right just pedal a bit I don’t let’s see but it could be a bit Touch and Go bit of a time trial to make it to the train and at this point I’ll say if you’re not already following my Instagram then pretty soon I’ll be at the TCR and I’ll be putting updates on there throughout the race it’s 4,000k 10 to 12 13 who knows how many days but that’s where I’ll be putting updates there probably won’t be any videos on here through that period so I’ll put the handle down below follow me on Instagram and I’ll put all the updates there anyway better get a rigle on if I’m going to make that train on [Music] time all right oh dear when I was getting ready this morning the forecast was little bit iffy but not that bad so I was trying to We Up endurance bike and and loads of gear or summer bike and next to nothing I enjoy riding this bike but wouldn’t mind having a rainco right now looking around me though I think it’s probably not going to last very long but this bike I haven’t ridden it in the rain at all yet since they’ve got painted and it’s getting well and truly caked in rubbish right now but I bought it to ride it so it’s going to happen oh well oh [Music] [Music] Central London from Portsmouth is a great ride I think maybe it’s about 80 90 Mi I added on a little bit at the start to go get a nice breakfast so I’m not sure how far I’ll go making quite a good progress to be honest kind of going into the sorry h Hills now over the southdowns ridge originally and now into the Su Hills for a bit more climbing I’ve got two topographical lumps to get over the southdowns and then the Sur Hills so after that it’s relatively flat to London at least the weather’s getting better it’s windy like very very windy it’s been a bizarre summer I’m not sure about where you are people watch from all over but I’m sure those in the UK will agree it’s been a really odd summer just a lot of Stormy Weather lots of rain a lot of wind really wasn’t planning on going very hard today I want to try to focus on being as rested as possible and feeling really good for the TCR I think I made good good inroads in that direction the last thing I want really is carry loads of fatigue into that race how nice is this so yeah after today no big rides no hard training tapering learning from All Points North try to go into it with the best head space I possibly can if I can make sure I’m completely rested feeling really good head space really clear I think I’ll have a much better time through the course [Music] non chance [Music] a [Music] oh dear this is fun welcome to the UK this is July [Music] just like that is sunny again it’s crazy weather you know today is Saturday I brought my ride forward today to avoid the horrible weather tomorrow it is dry tomorrow I’m going to be really annoyed I was just riding through here and thinking this looks really familiar the last time I rode this way it feel was a long time ago if you’ve been watching for a while now one of my first videos was a a my version of a how to ride a century your first century that was the last time I rode to London and the last time I rode through here and it feels like a really long time ago ages ago but actually it was only 7 8 months something like that if you watched that video when it came out you can consider yourself uh an OG viewer of the channel I should do this ride more often really it’s quite easy to organize the train it’s a gorgeous ride London’s always fun a bit hairy once you get there but not too bad that was the M25 the orbital Motorway or freeway that runs around London I always used to think that was basically job done but it’s uh it’s quite big London so probably couple more hour hours I’ve got 2 and 1/ half hours until my train so I think I might be okay but uh not going to ease off just yet got a nice Tailwind as well so this should be a fun ride into London through Richmond Park which is gorgeous and it’s actually quite a quick run into town hey it’s getting a bit dicey it’s time to switch on and don’t get run over n [Music] [Applause] [Music] this place is brilliant it’s a shame that for London is quite often it’s one of the only places to come and train considering this is in pretty much Central London it’s a pretty decent place to come and train windy there’s something really fun about riding through Central London very sketchy but ahead of a lot of fun it’s going to keep your head moving constantly left right up down and you’ll be fine usually but it’s so much fun [Applause] can you tell I made it with time to spare I will make the train so let’s go to the tourist thing and see some sights let’s go past a very famous Gap well it is the next day and I’ve just spent far too much time cleaning my bike that thing got absolutely filthy but at least now it’s done so I have to worry about getting it filthy in future it’s never going to get as dirty as that again today I’m feeling absolutely pooped to be honest with you that’s the end of my training now so I don’t have any more training to do before the Transcontinental race it’s two weeks today so next weekend I’m probably going to do a short ride I think maybe to Brighton or somewhere it’s completely flat I need to get a Mech hanger for my Mason Mason are on the way to Brighton so see if I can get in there go say hello to those guys and get a spare hanger in case I have issues in the way I feel like I’ve done a lot of training so I’m pretty satisfied on that front I’m pretty knackered though so I’m looking forward to getting some energy back and getting some excitement for the race the ride yesterday was really good it’s the first time for a while I’ve actually felt really excited on the ride and really enjoyed myself it’s easy to get caught up in training and all of the riding is just getting the job done having a good Adventure but not quite the same as it is in winter when I’m just going out and riding for fun got absolutely drenched soaked through but reminded me a bit I’m I’m not sure if you’d have seen it I did a training ride a while ago a few months ago got caught in a really bad hail storm and awful conditions freezing cold painful hailstones but it was so much fun just felt alive out in the elements and actually yesterday made me realize I haven’t felt like that for a little while so I think just due to doing all of the hard work trying to train for the races so now I better crack on and carry on planning my route they put some of the checkpoints in some pretty tricky places so I’m desperately trying to plan my route to get around some monster mountain passes but it’s looking like they’ made it so difficult ban certain roads it’s just not possible so going to spend the next two weeks trying to get the best route I possibly can get the last few bits done to my bike and then get to the start line at the rubay vill Drone so I won’t waffle on too much and make this video longer than it needs to be if you’re not already following the Instagram then go and give it a follow it’s the only place that I’m going to put any updates during the race and I’m going to try and put a lot on there anyway hope you all have a good week and I’ll see you on the next one when you watch the next one it’ll be a few days before the race so wish me luck have a good week see you then

Roubaix velodrome, what a great place to start . Have a great event 👍🙂
All the very best for your big ride Andy…..looking forward to hearing all about it….take care my friend
I can't agree more, bizarre summer and probably the windiest year I ever remember – it just seems to be constantly windy all the time? Its awful! Good luck with the rest of the TCR prep Andy!
Good luck Andy 👍
Great video Andy. Very familiar with Richmond Park leading to Putney and the journey to Waterloo. I cycled many times when I lived in Fulham & Putney. All the best for your forthcoming ride. Please keep the videos coming….👍. Regards David Owen
Good luck Andy. See you on the start line🤞👍
Good luck Andy don’t forget to let us know you cap number and dot watches ID
Wish you good luck and a great experience during the TCR. I'll be following your instagram updates and the race in general via the Lost Dot podcast, the Lost Dot Instagram and the live tracker on the TCR-website.
Andy you smashed it up to LDN from Pompey, nice one, strong ride – I love that route through Richmond Park and up into town. Enjoy the rest and getting into the right headspace for the TCR, you've got this mate, just try and enjoy the experience – probably in a type 2 fun way! – ride on
Good luck at TCR!
Great ride Andy! Fun riding through the big city, but as you say, got to be 100% paying attention 360.
Less than 2 weeks to TCR…!? Well, that came up fast. I'm now following you on Instagram because I really want to follow your progress on the TCR.
Great video, best of luck for the TCR.
Best of luck Andy, you’re a great follow!! Appreciate your efforts.
Cycling around London is on my list. Definitely now, you made it look fun. May not work with your energy bars but I can unwrap most by pressing one end down onto the stem etc and the bar pops out the other end…so you can do this one handed. Bit safer for me😅!
Hi Andy, really enjoyed your videos, good luck in TCR. QQ what are you using on the bike for navigation?
Awesome I’m sure your ready for the TCR good luck I’m sure you will crush it. I will give you a follow on insta. Thanks for the tour of Lundon it is beautiful❤
do you wax your chain Andy? i cant remember if you've said before or not.
Hi Andy, preparation preparation. We've done you have plenty of that. You're looking a bit nervous which is good as well. You should do well mate. And just for you I'm going to go on Instagram only for you. Mind you laugh out loud
Another great video as always. Out of interest, how do you plan the routes for your rides as you always seem to find nice quiet roads. Do you use an app or just google maps? Good luck for the TCR, will be following your progress 🤞
Good luck with TCR! I don’t do instagram so hopefully a nice video recap here once you’re done.
another great film Andy.
Just got back from 2024 PCR ride & reviewing the and pulling apart the ride now.
Wishing you all the best for the TCR, (what ever happens). All i ask is can we have a review/fire side chat of the highs & lows once he ride is over.
Take care & bl00dy good luck.
I tried a similar route last from my house in the new forest but my route was terrible. I got 3 punctures and managed to walk to evan in Guildford before i said enough was enough, it just didn't want me to make it that day
