After years of only riding fixies & singlespeeds, browsing this sub, watching YouTubers like ProbablyRiding and Ultraromance made me want to get a geared bike — but also to learn how to build one up by myself. It took several weeks, I learned a lot and it's been rewarding AF to take the bike out for a spin.
Like any deeply personal hybrid, the bike's not really good at anything particular (wrong handlebars for gravel, no fenders for commuting, no rear rack for randonneuring, too heavy for road cycling) but I love it nonetheless. Rides really well. I might get into bikepacking and take it across Europe.
*disclaimer: I had some help with the headset

It’s beautiful!
Very pretty! What is the frame?
Oh dang, I forgot to shout out YouTuber tadwenture [who made this cool video ](https://youtu.be/dxdPAHkeiDA?si=iHfW8_MsuGawbHqc)and gave me some initial pointers about how friction shifting is compatible with Shimano 9 speeds. He makes great cycling vids, check him out.
You never forget your first love.
May it serve you well now and for many decades to come!

What a beauty!
Very subtle CK headset, love it.
You don’t need a rear rack for randonneuring so as long as you are comfy on it for a good while you should give a 100km a shot.
She’s a looker and a keeper
