Did the walk of shame home, front tire started to develop a tumor. I tried to nurse it home but it didn’t make it. Never had this happen before anyone else?

I can’t speak for others but I have found those Challenge Gravel Grinders to be kind of fragile. I ended up replacing my back one while traveling the C&O/GAP Trails. It would puncture, and the liquid would partially seal, but I would end up with slow leaks over the course of a few hours.

It’s not a tumor

Having worked in a shop that sold Challenge for a while, I’ll never ride those tires ever again. Saw SO many failures like this. Or, the tread starts to peel from the casing.

Add me to the chorus of people who’ve had those tires fail before they were worn out (broken threads causing a big goose egg on mine). Sucks because I really liked the ride quality and the tread was perfect for the roads I have around me.

That’s what happens when you ride a challenge tire. Not only is it a challenge to install, it’s a challenge to finish the ride without a puncture!

Challenge tubs are the best in the business. Unfortunately the same can’t be said for their gravel tires. Very fragile, as you’ve learned the hard way haha

i know these are not the greatest in a lot of ways but my maxxis ramblers have lasted 3000 miles

These are race tires at best, not for your typical gravel rides.

How far did you have to walk?
