I was on my way home and as I went uphill I had my rear derailleur in the lowest gear and this was always fine but then my front gears I changed them the first time in a while from the big one to the small one and then as I pedal this happens and the rear derailleur comes off and spins around to the front and gets stuck in my rear wheel completely jamming it and then when I got home I managed to get the derailleur out from the spokes and and pull it out and it came completely off. I guess I’m going to need to get a new derailer. That is the exact same brand but I rather avoid this happening again.

in lowest gears and cranking up hill you are using maximum energy… that’s a lot of stress on it. if a bolt comes lose or a mounting point breaks on you…
if the poor thing got rung off of a few curbs and rocks in its long life you probably have your answer.
internal gear hubs for the win!
