I love riding bikes but admittedly I’m not a diehard cyclist. I am a natural tinkerer and always seem to need a project or two going. I purchased both of these bikes for $25 apiece. So far I have replaced the tires, tubes, chains, wraps, derailleur cables, grips, and pads. I have spent about 3 hours on each bike with 0000 steel wool cleaning chrome and degreasing. My next stop is the bearings, which I’m a little nervous about. Both of these bikes seem barely ridden, it at least the gears seem to be in real good shape. Anyway, just thought I’d stop by. Thank you all for looking 🙂

  1. I-continue-to-try on

Literally just brought my dad’s old letour out of the barn it’s been in for 14 years last night. Same color scheme as yours.

He bought it new with paper route money in 74. It was pristine when i took it to college. But then it spent a couple of years as a fixed gear rat bike.

It’ll never look as good as the one you have again. But I did splash out for a nos suntour cyclone gt and new cables. Hoping to get the cables on and the bearings greased this weekend.

  2. Love here for the Schwinns. Both look fantastic and I totally get the project need. I have fond memories of my old metallic green 10 speed cruising the SoCal coast from Long Beach to Newport in the early 80’s.

I’d hop on the Traveler exclusively….the ol’ shoulders need those cruiser bars these days!
