I did also look at seatpost racks as a stabilisers but I don’t have enough seatpost and they also weigh more than my current rack. Even the Aeroe Spider is 1.1kg compared to mine which is 700g, also I can save £90

At this point, i would strap a drybag to the rack plattform. Makes it simpler to work with, and looks much nicer.

Ortlieb do a support strap that might replace the pannier. You’re asking a lot of the bag though, if you’re able to spread some of the weight elsewhere it might work. Bet you’ve got space inside your triangle for the lock

  5. I’m thinking just a lightweight 15 liter drybag strapped to the rack would be lighter and more accessible. I’m a fan of the Exped Endura drybags with the webbing hoops to add extra strapping down options.

Drybag + poco panniers. Lower center of gravity, better bike handling, modular capacity, ease and speed of loading/unloading and no strap fest to fail or rattle.

If you don’t like panniers you should look into a trunk pack. Saddlebag overpacked to the point of needing a rack is kinda silly and defeats the purpose of the saddlebag design

i’d just buy a 20lt cylinderical dry bag and strap it too your rack and forget about the saddlepack all together 🙂
