talk this is the RM United podcast thank you all for being with us again we have a few bits to cover tonight we will talk about briefly talk about the fans Forum uh which happened tonight which me and Danny attended we will talk about the two signings that we’ve had in this week we will talk about the departure in Koso and if we’ve got time we’ll talk about England well I don’t really want to um but we’ll see where we get to um just because we have to review that England game in full because that was no way we’ get an hour out of that so be grateful uh Mick’s back how you doing Mick I’m all good man thanks to you very very good thank you very much and Danny’s back how we doing Danny I’m doing a lot better now I’ve got a cup of tea yes uh m K with as YouTube user as a power Steve Grundy Richard Darren cook Ian Bradley still the bus we’ see um thing at the fans for we also sat next to Paula R she says good evening thanks for your company good no Mick no you’re not Paula don’t me um so let’s talk about the fans Forum Danny M wasn’t there uh me and you were thoughts thoughts and feelings before we talk about any answers first um I thought um all people on the top table spoke really well um it was uh Rob Scott Steve Evans uh the host Tony Stewart and Pa Douglas I thought all four of them spoke really well um these there were sort of no really hard-hitting questions I don’t think um but the questions that were asked they got decent answers I thought um but there was a lot of shade thrown it last season wasn’t there there was a lot of shade about um signing players with with um long long injury lists um and you know taking a pop at the age of the players as well and it it was funny to begin with then it it became a bit of a now then yes it did um yeah I look we all know the issues last year we know we all know the issues with the sign signings there were and what happened but that’s not just down to Matt Taylor signing those players mat Taylor obviously would have had if not the final say m he would have would he would have had a significant say but it’s not just Matt Taylor’s fault all those signs that came last year they there there is a process that is followed and I was a Maybe not maybe not uncomfortable but I was a little bit disappointed there wasn’t more on what happened internally rather than just oh these players were injury prone and we signed him anyway yeah I was a bit disappointed in that yeah obviously not no I weren’t there so um we’ve we’ve covered this many many many many many times since the start of last season haven’t we um and there’s a little Point going over it again yeah Will manager’s fault yes Rob Scott’s going to take some blame yeah both managers have got to take some blame and as the as of the board it’s spread about equally quite frankly so we’ve got to let it go now it’s gone um but it what it does do is it opens your eyes to the fact that the the the decisions that were made by the club in terms of management were abysmal um in particular the break in between two managers so they’ve obviously got to learn from that um and we need to be we need to be aware of it don’t we um for the future because because as and when Steve Evans goes whether he be sacked or leaves um will the same thing happen again probably is the answer there’s nothing to suggest that it won’t is there yeah Matthew d d I think was there says seem to answer the question on bringing down the age of the squad by talking about injuries he says there was no Forward Thinking no sell and value T these other revenue streams which has to be transferred profits yeah I did notice that Danny when we asked about the bring average average age down Rob Scott talked about bringing Revenue more Revenue in and this is the conundrum that Steve Evans the club is gonna have that if Steve Evans is bringing in Liam Kelly we all think he’s going to be a really good player Liam Kelly we all think that he’s gonna be a good Sig of this season but there’s no money there there’s no sell on value there’s no profit for the club in that into from a transfer point of view and that was what was talked about at the end of last season in terms of bringing average age down that’s that’s a consequence of bringing the average age down that then have more assets essentially to make the club more profitable to then start a bit of a cycle yeah definitely I mean maybe that’s why we’ve sign players in you know sha M Williams for example and um and that sort of thing that sort of player um but yeah you’re right there was very little mentioned about um Forward Thinking other than the fact that they’ve sort of had a look at the uh the Victor situation and and gone we got the best out of it that we could but we need to do better um but we’ve heard that tune a fair number of times over the last few transfer Windows um but the one the one thing that interested me and I’ve seen a few comments saying they didn’t really talk openly about things I think they talked openly about the stuff that they could but the one thing that surprised us all was how open they talked about the new Sky deal and how much they hate it ha is a strong word but they they are they clearly not a fan of it yeah I think they stopped short of saying that they hated it but the vibe that you got off it they well they’re not fans of it basically yeah that that that b come from Paul Douglas who I thought against but very very very well um yeah so he essentially said that that it seems like a risk the efl putting all these games on telly seems like a big risk to the pyramid essentially the pyramid itself how much football is too much football it’s is the is the point without without saying those words and that’s again something we’ talked about M we talked about the podcast when the sky deal came up this snoo Cy came up the how much football is too much football you know how how much rearrangement of foot of games is too much that then fanss will stop going to games because it’s just available on the red button or or whatever else it’s good to see that these are conversations that are being had and it’s not just paying me the money well I mean if you think that the efl have got any interest in in football clubs and supporters then then you’re you’re more naive than than than I thought you know the AFL are only interested in getting a television deal that will line in their pockets and if some clubs go under as a result of that then so be it they’re not interested this is all corporate world now this is not football any longer um you know this is just this just just about who can line who’s pockets as quickly as possible before it all falls falls down so the clubs May well have input into how this deal is going to work but ultimately will not have the the end say on that that will be the efl and if it doesn’t benefit all the clubs so be it they don’t care they’re not interested so long as it benefits the efl um so we know that we look as supporters we’ve seen it from the top downward from the Premier League down down the AFL nobody’s interested in the pyramid nobody is interested only the supporters and the football club Owners to a degree some of them not all of them you know a lot of them are just in it for the same reason that the are in it and the and sky and and everybody else that’s just to make some money out of it it’s just it’s just a money-making machine so to think that they would consider the survival of clubs I I think is is naive to say the least so yeah it’s it won’t be a good deal for the clubs there’s no doubt about it and it will stop people going it will without a doubt stop people going but the efl will get paid so that’s the end of that a it well it is I know I know that’s a really cynical view of it I know that but but we see it time and time again you know we see it all the time with some of the decisions that are made and and the way that the Premier League are bullied bully everybody else you know it’s just about money it’s money money money so yeah um sh asked did the questions actually get answer or was it just political answer I wouldn’t say necessar was political answers that were given Dan I would just say it was it was more it was you’ve mentioned it shared at shared at the previous two managers really it was it was we’re going to do things we’re going to do things better without kind of explaining why and how it’s going to be better if that kind of makes sense I think with some questions they went in depth with their answers and it surprised a few people like with the the Sky package answer like the average loss per Club in the efl was 16 million last year like that that’s absolutely AB hor and somehow rather only lost a pittance amount compared to that um but I think a few questions were a bit more political like I think the answer the answer to the the Victor question about how the million pounds is going to get reinvested that was quite political like oh it’s technically disclosed you know we can’t confirm or deny that figure d d even though that’s why they reported as to what it is maybe it’s because it’s paid installment in installments by no it’s up FR it’s a release Clause oh is it oh okay so what that that was the more of the political answer um but and I want want to get mix reaction to this because I think this one will surprise him because they talked about um thought you know thoughts on last season if and if there’s you know like oh it’s only R sort of attitude from officials referee referee referee you’re gonna love this yeah you’re gonna love this so Paul Douglas thinks there is a little r from attitude from officials because like you’re the smaller club and you know the there is sort of an unconscious bias towards bigger clubs but they have this system called KMI and it sort of is like an overall figure and it takes into account referees opinions um ex players opinions etc etc and sort of forms the calculus as to how performances Garner and how the referee indecisions swing a football match rotheram benefited more from incorrect refereeing decisions than any other club in the efl last season according to KMI yes apparently so thoughts sorry screen I’m Frozen Frozen um well in that case if that’s the case show me the figures show me the fig show me how that’s worked out because we all know that that is Absolut I can’t say it’s left at water shed is it technically yeah absolute bollocks no question about it whatsoever that is utter nonsense nonsense it was like a weird silence that fell in the room as well when when he said it classic eeld in it that’s classic I genuinely thought that you were just saying it to wind me up I thought you were joking because I mean that is just if that’s the case that’s fine that’s how you measure it show us show us how you calculate it show us what figures show him show it me show me the evidence because we’ve all seen the evidence yeah live firstand which was the game that he used as an example M was it the Bor b game B yeah apparently the goal we scored C’s goal we scored was determined to be offside by like this independent panel by this independent panel and the the middle better a gold this allowed at the last few seconds which which should which was on side that that one was was close to be fair but uh but I just yeah you could reel off PS you could reel off off and nonsense rubbish garbage that’s that’s there these refl figures that’s not from Club obviously well no absolutely absolutely yeah enjoyed that enjoyed it I mean I don’t know whether he enjoyed my reaction or whether he I suspect he’s laughing at at the staff more than El absolutely um Harry asked was there a question about the reign of the previous two managers not really and I was surprised that I mean we were there I suppose me and D could have asked the question it just that’s not where the questions were going really there was it was all kind of going forward I’m surprised there weren’t questions about Matt Taylor I’m surprised there wasn’t questions about the four-week waight I don’t think Liam Richardson’s name was mentioned um in the in the two two hours or so it was there um they talked about the quick decision making in terms of evidence going in so they talked about the kind of positive aspect at the end um but there was nothing previously I I don’t know I there wasn’t is to answer your question Harry there wasn’t anything about the the previous two managers other than the kind of Digs at signing injured players and I think digs is a fair way of putting it to H there were a lot of digs Digs at Matt Taylor we actually say again without mentioning yeah definitely but that’s that again Paul RS says the Steve Evans Tony short love Fest was a bit over the top yeah they love each other don’t they they were stopping just short of sitting on each other’s knees really but um yeah it’s a s State of Affairs isn’t it when you know you’ve got two people there two personalities there who we very very good at telling everybody how good they are um and in my experience as you pointed out last podcast M I’m 60 very soon um and in my lifetime everybody I’ve met who’s told me how good they are usually aren’t the only ones that are any good don’t tell you if you’ve got to tell me how good you are then you’re probably useless and we’ve got two people in charge here who who can’t wait to tell everybody how good they are the pro the proof of the pudding is in this coming season yeah ultimately and if we are not challenging or up there in the automatics by the end of this season then it’s a failure as far as Ste said that has essentially said that he basically guaranteed we were challenging at the top end of the table it was basically and that’s not me put it was basically a guarantee will be Challen he didn’t guarantee promotion but he say a guarantee will’ll be fighting at the right end of the table we’ll be fighting where where we’ll be fighting is another matter and he can’t offer that guarantee and he’s not in a position to offer that guarantee under any circumstances and that’s exactly my point that precisely my point but let’s wait and see the only thing that was really mentioned like in well not even in depth but really talked about with to do with last season was telling she apologizing for the season that’s just gone and that was about it did he apologize yeah it was like just after the first question he sort of apologized for the state of last season and then said about moving forward etc etc and know whole re reiterating that him and Steve Evans are really good friends I fair enough I I know he said he was devastated about last season if he said if he said if he said he apologized I missed that um I’ll take it was definitely a blink in you miss it sort of thing yeah there’s a major issue there there’s a major major issue there if if we’ve got a manager and a chairman or really good friends that that is not a relationship that you want between manager and chairman you know I don’t want that I want somebody who’s G to do his job professionally well which which obviously negates the fact that we brought Steve Evans in so that that sort of throws that straight out that we have done it um and and and Tony Stewart’s behaved not behaved professionally at all this last season certainly public um and and and it would appear in private with the with the the way that um this the Deb barkle carried on over the manager so you know what I mean but to have a manager and a chairman who are very close friends doesn’t board well because he’s be he’s going to be cut so much more slack than anybody else and he’s cut the two managers who’ve had this season enough slack got relegated so you know it’s it’s not one that you need it’s not that’s not the kind of relationship you want but you know listen at the end of the season I might be eating eating Umble pie because we’ve got promoted as Champions I don’t think we will fair enough um Jen says Mick is not amused to be fair it’s just what England lose at Cricket so that’s not helping his mood no that’s not no and that’s another fast in it if you want me to go about that let’s not let’s not um yeah a couple of things he was asked about Zack jwes and now this was a big he said Zack Jules is gonna be like Carrie arners Steve just one best defenders we’ve ever had at the football club and you’re comparing a new signing to I thought that was a big big call that’s big shoes to fill already that puts pressure on Zack Jules already Zack Jules maybe not know who Carrie Arison is but that is a hell of a comparison to make I think the the throwing of shade after that as well was a big ta because he said he was better than any of the old Defenders who were here last season as well any of the Defenders the old Defenders that we had here last season as well yeah I thought than C well old Defenders I think old I thought he said old sorry no um so again Digs at last season with nobody taking responsibility at the table anyway I mat Taylor’s gonna take that responsibility the interview it’s going to make the first own game very interesting if Matt Taylor sees any of that fans for it’ll make Bristol Rovers I’m very interesting yeah he um he also compared Joe Powell to Ben Pringle as well with the left foot yeah probably see a bit a bit more mobile than Ben Pringle was but just as left foot was kind of how I describe so it’s I did I did like what um what Rob Scott said about um about PO he said they didn’t like how he played at Burton last season is like a number six so he stats from last season are a bit misleading yeah um so I think we’ll see po playing a little bit further forward and maybe on the left side of a Center Midfield um this coming season potentially yeah all fans for I think fans forms are important I think it’s good to have communication from between the fans and the clubs uh fans and the club what I would possibly like to see going forward I don’t Club something we we’ll do is kind of a sit down interview with with some like Paul Davis something external from the club to go through everything in a bit more detail and kind of a step by step in the situ what happened with the football Club um going in the past what’s going to happen going forward that’s what I would like to see a bit more individual bit more in depth um again I’m not sure that’s something they’ll be up but that that’ll be by what I want to see next next time basically ultimately as a result the main take away from this fans forum is that the elephants still sat in that room in it the the four-week break between managers or five week break between managers you know and and nobody’s addressed that nobody’s even asked the question for for whatever reason that’s not criticism of anybody but there but if if I’m chairman that that’s going to be one of the first things I I want to address because we all know that that is the reason the or a major contributory factor for our performances in the second half of the of last season major major factor so at least address the problem don’t just leave it sitting there at corner and and open it goes away because you know it’s just wrong and it’s again it’s unprofessional you know if you’ve made a mistake own it don’t don’t try and just gloss over it which is essentially what we’re doing here not good enough not good enough no um in Bradley says when Rob Scott started talking about stats and an anatomical data how did kafu get through M Taylor I don’t know why just you know you know if there was a problem last season you know when um things didn’t work atmosphere rubbish blame mat Taylor for that um when there was LS when beer weren’t working beer atts are working that’s mat Taylor’s f as well um I think the issue with turn Styles at one point that were mat Taylor interest Matt Taylor gonna get get the blame for the debark on first game of this coming season when no’s got a season ticket yeah he’ll be there brist mat tillay will be there so it be easy yeah yeah yeah yeah of course he will because Bristol RS are coming out yeah so yeah that’s convenient I don’t know just as a side note we obviously all that we’re well into season ticket renewal and anybody that renewing should have already renewed as anybody at all anybody heard anything any confirmation any email any confirmation whatsoever that they have got a season ticket for this coming season I’d be interested to know that because I certainly haven’t heard a thing I don’t think I’ve heard anything thing though noever from anybody no the only thing we heard about Ticket Master was someone asked the um the data protection breach question to Paul Douglas and he’s re and he’s reassured everybody that um even though Ticket Master was hacked um every Fan’s data is safe his his words not mine the Fan’s data is safe check internal it te and it’s it’s sa working at highest possible security levels as they can and it’s as secure as it can be yeah interestingly the the need it would be it would be nice to know that when my money starts going out if it has already I don’t know but I’m sure it will this mon it into July go starts where where’s my ticket when’s my ticket arriving have they have they accepted it have they got my my detailed I don’t know I’ve got nothing nothing at all no confirmation so Steve Steve has which is been a bit concerning that Steve has and nobody and some other people haven’t um we willway that’s by the that it’s not a surprise for ticket masters it let’s be fair so yeah uh Paula R says she’s an email listing direct debit dates first of July don’t think I about that either check your jump Follow committee of fans to build more of an atmosphere at the stadium um because they feel like there are leaders who get the songs going on away days and and that sort of thing and um they basically just said they’re open to the idea of creating more of a a fan driven um unity in the stand bit a bit like the ultra thing just not quite as rough um R well you know you know you know what I mean though like the whole coordin thing and the whole threatening side of the alas where they try to intimidate people we’re not going to do that are we try yeah but anyway they’re open to the idea um of a committee of fans to do all that I suppose we we are fans if anybody want if anybody that was mentioned if anybody wants to do that get in touch and we’ll discuss what we can do we’re only three fans four fans with Tom five can fans with Kev six can for joy and so on but if there’s anything we can do as fans to help with that w w exactly the ones to start songs but if there’s anything what we can do for do for that um to connect people or whatever that case maybe we’ll help where we can in any circum that’s a lot that that’s all we are as well fans aren’t we yeah what was the name of the fan the stadium we’ve been waiting 12 years so we can wait another four weeks if it’s going to be just another four weeks um it just it’s like New York stum when he talk about New York stadium I only see I only believe it when I saw it and it’s the same kind of thing when I start seeing something I’ll start believing it yeah he delivered with New York stadium let’s see what else he can deliver on yeah I mean he said that one thing has to happen before the corner bar thing can happen and me and you mat we both thought he was on about the forge Island development waiting until that’s up and running but someone asked about doing something with guting crimes and he suddenly went very Twitchy and comical didn’t so I think they’re waiting for something to go through guting crimes and then battle develop and then the corner b develop and yeah yeah he also intimated about he talk talked about himself being quite old but his son’s not quite so old so that is another intimation that there is a successor to the owner of R United is not necessar going to sell it when he when he gets to Old there’s a suggestion there that it’ll be his son that takes over yeah as the eventual chairman Al United which again would be nice to a bit firmer plan but again whatever um Richard put Micky fan in charge of the fans committee that’s only that’s all well and good if you need a mooning section I can do don’t know if it is worth noting actually but Oxford have been charged and B found guilty of not paying transfer fees on time by the EF today oh we walk straight into that one didn’t yeah they’ve been given a one transfer one transfer Windows ban suspended for two years and a 3,000 fine which I’ll tell him that’ll show him um but so yeah that’s will not pay yeah so yeah that’s jeez coincidence before we sold him there I mean surely surely there must have been talk in football manager football Chairman’s WhatsApp group The Oxford aren’t paying transfer surely not um oh transform we should mention the regulator that was mentioned the football regulator was mentioned by Paul Douglas um massively in favor of it thinks it’s necessary for the for the for the game going forward The Regulators brought in as soon as possible MH which depends on which government gets in and how quickly that happens it’s not top prior for anybody I want have thought um so yeah that’s that’s that one but Club are massively in favor which which I am happy with I think that’s a good step yeah good to get a firm voice on that one anything on Koso D you want to ask um not really just don’t we get the signings cam Dawson and Alex M coming this week let’s start with Cameron Dawson um they say when like when Alex Ferguson left Manu you don’t want to be the guy that follows him I worry that we’re going to be in similar situation with Victor because Victor best one of the best Keepers we ever had being the guy after him is not always the best place to be but cam Dawson seems a pretty solid League one keeper although some people manag to get upset about it yeah well I mean why why why why we surprised about that you know I have no idea I know very little of him um I know he didn’t get in pigs team very often did he I don’t think got he played play and what not for him yeah yeah so yeah listen that whoever takes that position as you rightly say he got he’s he’s got a big but they’re not going to fill the shoes that they they need to fill other it it’s it’s as simple as that so all we can do is hope that we can get somebody who’s adequate at the very least adequate hopefully slightly better you know um and he’s an experienced keeper U played at a decent played at a decent level um what what else can you do really you know we’re not going to get anybody to to the level that we’ve had it’s as simple as that and I think we all as fans we all understand that um so yeah let’s let’s wait and see let’s wait and see that’s all we can do with uh with the keeper um situation I think I suspect that Dylan Phillips will get the get the nod first of all you know he’s been in Prim position but you you never know you never know um so we we’ll have to wait and see on that one unfortunately but ain’t going to be no Victor no uh Chris says Wednesday friend says a good shot stoer awful kicking Phillips yeah but yeah so yeah look he got promoted with him Danny that’s a good it’s another promotion winner you’ve got you’ve got on got your got your team he played for ex in League 2 for my Hest ex fans thought it was amazing they absolutely love cam DW in League 2 yeah and from a goalkeeping perspective I don’t think there’s much difference in League one and two you know I think League Championship where things can be a bit more complicated because kicking is more important and things such as that um but he’s apparently excellent saving penalties as well so if that ever comes up with r United so we’re going to concede penalties um I’m fine with it I I’ve SE people upset about I don’t see a need to get upset about this is probably the best you going to get yeah I don’t think there’s real any real need to be overly upset by it I think it’s um just it’s just a decent League one Sig him I think I mean he’s gone with Wednesday fans best wishes and I’ve seen aminos towards us which is very surprising um but at the same time it sort of feels like we’ve gone back to the time of um Victor and vickas you know we’ve got two very decent Keepers who are very interchangeable in starting births um maybe not the same quality level because I don’t think we’ll ever be able to replace Victor and Vickers but it’s that same sort of vibe of two solid Keepers I think Phillips will get the nod initial but if he has a bad Runner form he’s very interchangeable with dawon I think so got goalkeeping wise I think we’re going to be all right now what it’s worth I think Dawson will get the nod I think he’ll go with his own man he hasn’t signed enough I know he’s talked to up a lot um but I think he’ll go with his own man um who has been there seen it and done it got the promotion um as well we’ll see k b says dwon is a pro hopefully he’ll put a little kicking practice in shouldn’t be difficult really um he looked very happy you know in his interview after the sign it was all smiles those interviews can really boring but he was he just looked happy um so that’s good that’s a good you know how how many times you watch have you watched the interview a guy who just signed and it’s three or four word answer it’s a n it looks happy to be here which which is which is good which is important see ev mentioned that tonight he talked about the players that have got release Clauses with a few days to stay I I it’s worth mention actually don’t me to mention that Paul Davis reported a few days ago there’s two players that have release closes in their contract which I think expire at the end of the month Steve Evans said those two players have said to him that they have no intention of going at the moment unless they get a big a different offer in the next two or three days those players will be staying with us um that we don’t know who they are I should add I it didn’t he didn’t share any light on that but that’s that’s interesting um K asking about new goalkeepers coach no nothing’s been mentioned the goalkeeper coach he did talk about Joe scars though so Joe scars is not been promoted as a first team coach he’s been promoted as kind of a development coach is like a bridge between the academy and the first team uh so I would still expect a first team coach to come in at some point within I think quite sure with a week or so I think um I think Steve has mentioned that so that’s something to keep an eye on uh which they’ve obviously G because got rid of the Cod stuff is that surprised M got rid of Dan Green and Scott Brown we surprised I’m not surprised they’ve gone I’m disappointed that they’ve gone but I’m not surprised but we don’t want these new fangled ideas around area do we polluting the polluting the long ball um philosophy I’m being sarcastic I appreciate that I don’t know that I’m happy about it something in the back of my head just makes me feel that it’s you know it’s kind of a new broom and all that sort of stuff but it’s a new broom that it just feels and this is possibly my um clouded view of it all but it’s feels like it’s a new broom Sweeping in the old rubbish that’s how it feels you know I could be wrong and and look we all know my views on the situation but you know these are two modern Forward Thinking football coaches now I’m not suggesting for a second that I’m a big fan kind of modern Forward Thinking football as it stands at the moment when you we’ll go to England in another coach lined up I think his name is Mike Basset manager okay fair enough um I was surprised that when Le these didn’t get shoved off I thought I think I think we needed a fresh start and I think we do need a fresh start we don’t need that baggage from last season so I think from that perspective I think it’s I think it’s probably a good thing although I think they probably are good coaches I think Paul Green are very very dangry sorry is very very highly rated but I just think we needed something different going forward we we’ll see what happens on that one um Sean H says did um did the mention at the corner U from New York St last fans Forum instead of hiring a van outside on Match days when there’s a unit yeah the unit is factored into what is going to be announced expect to be down to the next four weeks they said um so count four weeks suppose um right next up Alex McDonald Danny this one was way way left field to be honest with you um thoughts I didn’t know anything about I didn’t I didn’t know if it was when when he announced it I didn’t know if we got Bruno coaching to honest with you because I just didn’t expect it and yeah what your thoughts yeah it just strikes me as um a player who Steve Evans knows and just your standard utility player I mean even Evans said it the fans for him you’re not going to get 30 appearances out to him in a season but it strikes me as a sort of player that’ll be a very strong squad player and let him just process it D we’ll come to me yeah we’ll come back to it um very strong squad player will probably give you it all for the last half an hour of a game um start maybe said about 15 or 20 I think you said um but he just strikes me as as just an allrounder player that Evans trust and he’ll get the job done and he says what what did he say he had um his strongest attribute was at the fans for him what did he say um uh I can’t remember what he said his strongest attribute was I think I just switched off from all the the love in between him and Tony Stewart at that point um but yeah he says he’s going to bring um something he trust to the team yeah um but at the same time it’s not expected to start every single game but he says that we’ll we’ll like his style of play which you know fair enough I suppose one of that sort of player is better than five that we had last season I suppose um Mick well I mean we we’ve we’ve obviously spent some time at this forign tonight being mildly critical of signing players who were too old and not going to get a full season out of him and then what we’ve done is we’ve come down and signed a player who was too old and we’re not going to get a full season out of him and that’s that’s all right this time weren last time obviously for obvious reasons and that causes a lot of problems but this time it’s all right why why are we signing a player that we’re not going to get a full season out why are we signing a player at this stage of the Season we’re gonna we might get 20 minutes out of 20 games out of the Season what is the point of that you know where where is this reduction of the the the average age of the Squad where is this investment in the future for the club bringing on players selling them on to BR to to raise the money where’s all that coming in it’s not is it it’s quite clearly not um I mean that’s just one player but but you know it yeah we talked to suit whatever the occasion is it would appear but again that’s not a surprise we we’ve had experience of this in the past we know that’s how this this r works but hey what we can do is support it well support the the club and the team don’t have to support what goes on behind the scenes but for me I don’t know the lad you know and he might be a great player he might be great to have around the dressing room and everything else but if you could have some if you just want somebody who’s great around the dressing room bring a coach in um you know what I don’t get bying a player in his 30s who who Who’s would appe here from from from what I’ve seen is is’s a league one League 2 player who’s not even going to play a full season if he’s fit what why is that taking up a space at Squad don’t know don’t make any sense to me but and I don’t want to be I don’t want to be critical of the bloke I’ve never seen him play you know what I mean yeah I don’t want to dig him out it’s not his fault however however you know you can’t say one thing and then criticize one set of management or two sets of management for for one thing then do exactly the same thing and say it’s all right not right no I agree I I completely agree um P Med says exactly the same uh can’t believe he agrees with you Michael Carell says sorry Mick but you are absolutely spot on um part my references Kelly and McDonald both mid-30s um Chris P has the the threadbear squad needs cover I think that would be a point if it was August yeah if you still not even not even at the end of June there’s no need to to worry about making your squad not threadbear at this point because you’re only let your preseason starting preseason training starts properly on Monday this all test and stuff that they’ve done yesterday today that Steve Evans has talked about um I don’t think the thread barness of it is is a necessarily an issue at this point um but then like it might be an amazing it might the kind of player that’s brilliant is obviously an ally of Steve Evans which managers need they need need players in their guys in the dressing room this is to play Devil’s Advocate I do agree with what you said um but maybe that’s part of it you know he he might be a great guy’s he’s trustworthy he maybe is fit if he’s fit for 46 games of the season but we only need him for 20 games and I bet and I bet you he’s not a much money either it’s come from Steven is you’ll not be on seven six grand a week really so maybe you’re getting more value for money than would be off somebody else maybe I thought we want to be competing at top end of table and we’re going to be competing against teams who are not interested in value for money they’re just interested in Talent which is a which is a Noel way of winning league in it having some talented players Al McDonald this is not your fault this is not a dig this is not a dig in any way shape or form because they may well be immensely talented players I I don’t know that that’s that’s not the point I’m trying to make the point I’m trying to make is that as a football club you know we’re not really investing in any future here are we other than well nub is we’re not we’re not invest in the future for the club certainly not if we’re not going to be bringing in younger players that we can bring on but anyway that’s that which is what we’re told were going to happen yeah anyway yeah that’s this one last time it’s mentioned I’m sure um I think for me with with Alex M McDonald The Gauntlet is laid down for him to effectively prove people wrong I think um Danny we can’t prove somebody wrong who’s not said anything bad about what who he is or what he is you know well it can prove it can prove you wrong it will only by playing 46 games and for n minutes yeah you know because that’s all I’m saying that’s my point my point is what you’re doing is as a manager you’re bringing in a player who you’re saying is not going to you know he’s not going to be fit enough to play you a full season why would you even do that you know why would you you know it’s not going to happen why do it why waste the Squad plays do and that’s not criticism of him you know I I don’t know what sort of player he is he might be an immensely talented player he might be but if he’s not going to be there for the whole season why are we not getting somebody in who is going to be there or has more chance of being there you can’t guarantee it for anybody can you no that’s my point so I’m not I’m not digging him out and I’m not calling him out or anything like that like I said he may be an unbelievable footballer that that that’s as may be he’s got to be available Grant or Sean Morrison you know really good footballers never available metag glass Fergie Fergie unfortunately and and and the common denominator for that is 33 34 35 that age that sort of AG in experience that’s the common denominator there so yeah yeah um I just find it weird Evans says he will bring down the age but sign two players mid-30s he said he’s going to start bring the average age down he says this is kind of this is kind of building the squad next Parts fine Jun so as k says we’ve got to wait and see that’s all we that’s all we can do and that’s if we win that first game at season and we we we go up every single one of us will be will be buzzing whether whether you this time this time this year is that all games are televised whereas previously in the carabal cup none of the games would televis except the two or three that Sky chose um so that’ll be good for the attendance won’t it that we’re really really good to the attendance yeah yeah I mean that’ll help the attendance of 273 that we got last time weren’t it one of the worst attended games of the year now we’re gonna have less attendance because was like a great great plan to me that um but I’ll be going I do I enjoy that the cbar cup I think it’s a good a good tournament useful tournament you Tuesday after the first game of the season so you then see a couple of changes made tweaks made um I like it and I think it’s a win game which then put in second round which then possibly you can try and get a Premier League team which would be very very nice um yeah anything else anything else you want to Big up the cup no um the next one is the Bristol Street Motors proofy which obviously rolles right off the to um we know we’ve got Mansfield and we know we’ve got Bradford now we’ve got Newcastle United’s under 21s I think they are 21s um anything to add on that one one thing that strikes me as bizarre from that is why have they done the draw just for the under 21’s teams when that’s the one bit of the competition no one gives a toss about mad that that blew my mind that they should other way around yeah exactly but I know why they’ve not because they trying to get teams to play each other as close as possible so you go to the games so you go to Bradford and you go to Mansfield that’s but by that logic roam should be in a glute with barnley and Doncaster barnley and D are in the same group no aren’t boundy in the same group as Huddersfield is it boundy Huddersfield somebody else and um man United’s under 21s I think man united hooders field I’d have to have a look at this um but I I certainly know that Donnie Donnie and um other one I just mentioned if Bley and D in the same group as dunk as um as ERS field that makes no sense whatsoever you can’t have four teams in a group though can you yeah I I suppose but it makes more sense for it to be the whole it makes how how do that work it makes more sense for it though to be a South Yorkshire group yes it would move on but and then like you you or you could stick donc cter over one side with Grimsby and Lincoln you could and then have WBY BS F it’s bizarre yeah um yeah the attendant will be terrible for the Newcastle game I’ll to all the other Papa John’s home games Bristol Street I just want Papa John’s back that’s all I want bring back Papa John’s where where’s Big Papa John gone um but yeah I and many many other people won’t be attending the Newcastle game and solidarity every every group’s got whipping Boys on it and that’ll be Newcastle so yeah that’s I’ve just thought something absolutely atrocious that I could say I don’t whether I should say it let probably not let’s probably not do it um 21s but I won’t say it move on um Harry says you’d expect this on signing you’d expect that that to be the last of the free agents with five or six slots left so hopefully it’ll bring some promising loans in he God England May well be the luckiest team in the world because they are absolutely stunk I said this 20 minutes in into that watch along with did on Serbia game that the tournament’s been brilliant England have come along and stunk it up that group C is one of the worst groups I have ever seen in any major tourament I have ever seen and we’ve got through top M and not only have we got through top we’ve avoided France we’ avoided Spain we’ve avoided Germany we avoided Portugal I can’t believe England’s look amazing no and and it is really difficult because I want to be I don’t want to I do not not want to to slag him off I don’t want to um slag off G Southgate I don’t I don’t I just don’t it’s England I want him to win I want to do well but it’s so tough particularly after that last game they’ve made it so difficult and I think one of the reasons they’ve made it so difficult is because we’ve watched exactly what we watched the other night for the last 46 games of ram United where we go forward forward forward oh no no pass back back again back again but and it’s just it’s mind numbingly boring and it’s it’s it’s it’s another one of these this is how we play football we have to play it about play it about keep passing it keep passing it until someone opens up and no ever opens up because nobody ever moves you know and and it’s just so rigid in the way that we play and it’s just pedestrian lethargic and um ambitionless is how it feels how it looks I’m sure that that’s not meant to be the case sure that’s not how it’s meant to be that’s how it comes across and it’s so difficult I can only hope that now once we get into The Knockout stages we have to go we have to win games we cannot cannot do that from now on if we do we’re out so you know and if we do and we’re out well them will be deserved to be out I would hope that we now start to use some of the attacking talent that we’ve got you know um you you put TW halfway through the game you know about Harry Kane what should we do with him play is a number nine you know he’s playing Center half half at game um and and and the only times that we got balls in the Box we again I’ve said this we’ve been all three Palmer coming it’s absolutely Nob brainer for me for one of those yeah and I think um they’ve sort of shown Southgate that and I really does I really do hope between now and Sunday he racks his brain and then go was right the way we move forward is to bring the players on who have actually put a shift in on the football pitch we’re speaking to Ian Bradley briefly after the fans for him and he said foden’s been such a let down at this tournament maybe a bit of renewed Vigor now he’s had his third child that’s frightening he’s my age and he’s got three kids um but still more Premier League winners medals than kids which is very impressive to be yeah that’s very true but um I think England’s been so underwhelming and you’ve seen players come on all right fair enough for 15 20 minutes in the last game or so but even in the uh the game against um Denmark you saw oie Watkins come on and revitalized it for a bit but fell into the same trap because we were sat so far back um hopefully he does have um hopefully twists rather than sticks because I think if it sticks we won’t do as well um moving forwards but you know Southgate is he just strike me as a manager that’s stuck in his ways you know he plays a certain formation if it and if it don’t work then tough you know a little bit like Matt Taylor when we went to South Hampton we made a sub after 20 minutes because it didn’t work that one was mat Tay’s fault I know a lot that one was his fault but him taking off uh gallager for for Mayu was like that it was a very similar Vibe but like you said mayu’s done really well and I’ll keep reiterating we’ve got on paper one of the best attacking front fours in the world and we worried about defense and yet the defense has been the solid bit so far which play have yeah that’s true well South Gate has majorly and I mean majorly looked out with the side of the draw again exactly we’ve got all the Heavy Hitters on one side who are going to take each other out and I’d say our main danger is Italy and Austria in our side of the draw just by Italy having a bit about him and Austria being so so in form Austria are the dark hor this tournament they are probably team of the tournament so far yeah they are so in form and going into every game more or less as the underdog but blown people out the water they finished top of the group that had the World Cup recent World Cup finalists in it yeah and they’ve completely blown it out the water and if we with if we we can go yeah semi-finals um mind we could get Italy in quarterfinals that would be fun want it Revenge I hope uh we got to beat Slovakia first which you should be beating Slovakia I know that I know this is famous last words but in a team like England should be beating or any team but they should be beating Sakia in a knockout game no doubt about it in my mind but um it is what it is H Scot K say just speed up the passing we sped it up and scored the goal I said yeah absolutely I think when Gordon came on It sped again that was not long enough but It sped it that pass from Gordon to Mayu to Palmer that was that was one of the best bits to play had all tournament um yeah um Andy P says we take too many touches moving across back back four which allows opposition to cover the passing Lane so e the ball movement has to increase the tempo that’s the thing I’ve really disliked about England this tournament every time there’s a pass they stop it and then pass again it’s like why we mentioned with I mean is very it’s like they not it’s like they don’t trust themselves like Roden players clearly didn’t trust themselves they didn’t trust F to make that key pass and England like the minute and that’s why when Gordon came on he clearly does he’s got that confidence you can see straight away as well yeah they’ve got that confidence and that’s what that’s what the team’s been missing I think this is play a modern coaching method this clearly is because Taylor’s done it you know we’ve seen many many teams over the last two years in playing a championship who’ve tried to do the same thing tried and failed by the way to do the same thing you know so it it’s it’s obviously a modern this is how football should be played oh I’m got news for you so what you’re saying is that England being rubbish is Matt Taylor’s fault potentially you said that you made that connection I I definitely didn’t I have got another Euros thing that we could talk we just need to we just do need to mention before we leave but car on finish’s going to run and run by the way this is the new me into instead sweetest sweetest thing there were two sweet things in the game they clear and obvious penalty against Ronaldo that wasn’t given and and I suppose three or two and a half things the half thing being the ridiculous explanation that were given by the the the um TV that it wasn’t given because he wasn’t involved in the play I mean obviously had he got up and smack to the player that pulled his shirt then he would have not got a red card because he weren’t involved in play would appear That’s How The Rules work but but the sweetest sweetest thing was that the penalty that Georgia got against Portugal the team who are probably bar in Italy the biggest cheats in World football throwing themselves all over the place for them to concede a penalty that wasn’t a penalty it is just sweet sweet irony and it made me so happy I tell you yeah um yeah I agree that Georgia was just the B we missed first half we did obviously did a show yesterday yeah um but that kind of Georgia team is I could watch a team play like that for 46 games a season absolutely 100% brilliant and and it justifies letting the small na the 24 the format of the tournament’s rubbish but it justifies letting these these teams into the tournament because best day of the lives those players will live on that down that down on that game for the rest of their lives and I absolutely love it for them and right so they were they were outstanding and and the I mean the only thing that could have stopped him winning that was a water log pitch from Ronaldo’s tears when he got substituted and not got a penalty it was just beautiful it was just so beautiful I can’t tell you they got Spain next Georgia though so well they well listen essentially it’s the same team is it you know they’re playing the same team in terms of the way that they play the tactics and inverted commas that they use to to to to cheat the way through game so they may Well Do Do Well against them as well um but fingers crossed anyway I do I do love to see but I do love to see people like Ronaldo and his mates getting one of them because they 100% deserve it 100% the only disappointing fact was the fact that that cheat from Manu weren’t on Pitch that would have been sweet that well done Georg well done absolutely um Scot against the referee in the turkey game was giving out Christmas cards early 18 yows and a couple of Reds that were fun fun end um Steve spoof Evans says Georgia he did his golden badges with their coach and unlike St unlike South he listened that [Laughter] I like it um well anything else Lads we need to mention
