As I rode today to school as usual I've realized that the gears won't shift and there's a tyre rubbing.
At first I thought that the bolts are loose but then I've seen the inner gearing balls there.
Could the hub break on it's own from wear and tear or someone just broke it intentionally or with a car?
I locked the bike outside yesterday because someone took the key to the backyard and I forgot to move it.

Hubs can definitely break on their own from wear and tear.
If it had been run over by a car or someone had jumped on it etc do you think you’d see damage? Can you see damage? That thing needs a really good clean too.
